Book Synopsis The Reappearance of Christ in the Etheric by : Rudolf Steiner
Download or read book The Reappearance of Christ in the Etheric written by Rudolf Steiner and published by SteinerBooks. This book was released on 2003 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first chapter of the Acts of the Apostles describes Christ's Ascension: "And a cloud received him out of their sight." As the disciples looked up, two angels appeared and told them, "This same Jesus, taken up from you into heaven, shall come again in the same way as you have seen him go." In 1910, Rudolf Steiner began a series of lectures announcing the advent of Christ's appearance in the sphere of the earth's etheric or life body. At first, he said, only a few will be aware of it, but in time more and more people--regardless of religious affiliation--will be strengthened, comforted and infused by the Christ's living presence. Such "Damascus experiences," bespeaking a new natural clairvoyance, Steiner argues, will become increasingly common. "The Christ will become a living comforter," he writes. "However strange it may seem, it is nevertheless true that often when people, even in considerable numbers, are sitting together not knowing what to do and waiting, they will see the etheric Christ. He will be there, will confer with them, and will cast his word in such gatherings. We are now approaching these times..." This collection contains Steiner's lectures on this theme, as well as on important related questions, such spiritual science and etheric vision, the etheric vision of the future, "the etherization of the blood," the Sermon on the Mount and the land of Shambhala, the mysteries of comets and the Moon, Buddhism and Pauline Christianity, spirit beings and the ground of the world, and the three realms between death and rebirth. The Reappearance of Christ in the Etheric collects much of Rudolf Steiner's most important discussions of esoteric Christianity, especially as it relates to the central place of the Christ being in world and human evolution.

Book excerpt: In war, no one is safe. War has come to Thornstone, Tarkin’s Point, and Thoriddon, throwing all three nations into chaos. Led by the demon lord Vagborar, the legions of orcs are bent on nothing less than the total annihilation of both human and dwarf. With their demonic allies, they just might succeed. But not without a fight. As Serena tries to find answers and a path to victory, Orin and Brom fight with both sword and spell to turn back the tide of darkness. Beside them are a kingdom of dwarves and a city of humans, but even they may not be enough to beat back such a force. If they hope to survive, they need to come together, but with each nation under siege, uniting as one is easier said than done. When one of them is freed from battle, hope is rekindled, but prejudices rise to the surface, threatening everything. If any of them hope to survive, past actions and old hatreds must be forgotten. Hard decisions and painful sacrifices must be made. And pride and egotism must be set aside for the greater good. If not, a new age of evil will dawn upon the world.

Book Synopsis Redeeming Thucydides' Book VIII by : Vasileios Liotsakis
Download or read book Redeeming Thucydides' Book VIII written by Vasileios Liotsakis and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2017-06-12 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since antiquity, Book 8 of Thucydides’ History has been considered an unpolished draft which lacks revision. Even those who admit that the book has some elements of internal coherence believe that Thucydides, if death had not prevented him, would have improved many chapters or even the whole structure of the book. Consequently, while the first seven books of the History have been well examined through the last two centuries, the narrative plan of Book 8 remains an obscure subject, as we do not possess an extensive and detailed presentation of its whole narrative design. Vasileios Liotsakis tries to satisfy this central desideratum of the Thucydidean scholarship by offering a thorough description of the compositional plan, which, in his opinion, Thucydides put into effect in the last 109 chapters of his work. His study elaborates on the structural parts of the book, their details, and the various techniques through which Thucydides composed his narration in order to reach the internal cohesion of these chapters as well as their close connection to the rest of the History. Liotsakis offers us an original approach not only of Book 8 but also of the whole work, since his observations reshape our overall view of the History.

Book excerpt: This carefully crafted ebook: “THE GREAT WAR COLLECTION – The Battle of Jutland, The Battle of the Somme & Nelson's History of the War (9 Books in One Volume)” is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. John Buchan (1875-1940) was a Scottish novelist, historian and also served as Canada's Governor General. With the outbreak of the First World War, Buchan worked as a correspondent in France for The Times. Content: Days to Remember: The British Empire in the Great War The Battle of Jutland The Battle of the Somme, First Phase The Battle of the Somme, Second Phase Nelson's History of the War (Volumes I–V) “The definite history of this war is not now to be written, or for many a day. Still it may be possible to disentangle from this struggle of armed nations over hundreds of miles some explicit narrative which may help all of us who are hungering for help and guidance. At present we do not authentically know even the subtle causes which produced this convulsion over half the world. What is on the surface is clear enough, but it is what is under the surface that matters. I am reluctant to believe in a diabolical and cold-blooded scheme to bring about war at this time; at least, this does not seem to be proved. We must, then, I think, suspend our judgment as to the real causes of war till time and documents give us the clue. Perhaps the pregnant word “mobilization” may explain much. Meanwhile we can only conjecture by the light of a few facts...” (Excerpt; Nelson's History of the War)
