Analyzing the final chapters of the Bible on a verse-by-verse basis-and finding much to be contentious about, particularly when it comes to other interpretations of the book-Bullinger reveals a powerful, devotional way to approach Revelation. British clergyman ETHELBERT WILLIAM BULLINGER (1837-1913) was one of the most respected Bible scholars of the 19th century. He is author of numerous works including Great Cloud of Witnesses and How to Enjoy the Bible.

Book Synopsis The Winepress of God's Wrath by : Steve A. Hamilton
Download or read book The Winepress of God's Wrath written by Steve A. Hamilton and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2021-06-29 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Without exception, this is the most revealing commentary of the book of Revelation in decades! This fresh and historically researched commentary reveals what early Christians had known so many years ago about the apocalypse. After 1,900 years, present-day Christians finally have a reliable document that explains Christ’s prophetic book. This commentary contains amazing insights. One of the main adversaries in the book of Revelation was a prominent historical figure. He was known as the savior of the church. People looked up to him and worshipped him. The apostle Paul called him the man of sin and the son of perdition (2 Thessalonians 2:3). The apostle John, in one of his earlier writings, called him the Antichrist (1 John 2:18). Those who failed to get their names written in the Book of Life marveled at his presence in eternal punishment (Revelation 17:8). That person is identified by name in this commentary. Armageddon is more than a great battle in the book of Revelation. It is the one defining event that will affect everyone’s life. The number of combatants “is as the sand of the sea.” Yet the battle will be over before it ever begins (Revelation 20:8–9). The bowls of God’s wrath were poured out on a wicked and unsuspecting world. Historically, “a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshipped his image” (Revelation 16:2). This plague was described in detail by writers who lived as it occurred. This commentary includes their firsthand accounts. The Winepress of God’s Wrath depicts God’s anger at a wicked society while providing hope and comfort to believers. The theme in the book of Revelation is clear—the wicked will not escape destruction. Only obedient Christians will avoid the winepress of God’s wrath.
Book Synopsis Revelation of John the Apostle by : Richard D. Draper
Download or read book Revelation of John the Apostle written by Richard D. Draper and published by Brigham Young University Studies. This book was released on 2016-01-30 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To read the book of Revelation is to see a myriad of representations pass by our gaze, offering and kaleidoscope of bizarre and incongruent images. This world strikes us at first as fearfully and mysteriously strange and fantastic. But once these symbols are properly deciphered, they combine to present crucial messages for those living in the last days. These messages were designed by God to lead all successfully through these troubled times if they will read, hear, and do his will. This commentary presents a comprehensive analysis of John's book aided by the lens of LDS doctrine and Mormon experience. God delivered his messages in the form of images housed within discrete visions, with each symbol explaining, exposing, or emphasizing various aspects of the message conveyed. The challenge is getting beyond the symbols to the represented realities. Information is drawn from all the Standard Works, the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible, and from modern Prophets and Apostles.

Book Synopsis The Book of Revelation by : Earl Thames
Download or read book The Book of Revelation written by Earl Thames and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014-08-12 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revelation is about the resurrected Christ, His church, and the world. More than any other prophetic book of the Bible, the prophecies of Revelation are presented in symbolic form; that is, pictures, rather than words, are used to convey the message. This is why this book is somewhat difficult to understand--the pictures have to be interpreted. These amazing, symbolic pictures, like the Parables, both reveal and conceal. Thus the book of the Revelation is not so clear that everyone can see the meaning and understand it immediately. But, as will be discovered, the pictures have an ascertainable meaning, a meaning which is based on the previous books of the Bible. It should be mentioned at the outset that some pictures have more than one meaning--that is, they are composite. Where this is so, all the meanings are valid and must be held together. Another remarkable fact must be stated: Unlike any other book of the Bible, Revelation, in an amazing way, sums up all that has gone before, in both Old and New Testaments. In other words, it sums up all the other books of the Bible! Revelation is, in truth, the final book of the Bible, and so every thread which runs through the Scriptures is not only picked up but tied into a final knot in this amazing book.
Book Synopsis All Power to the Lamb by : James R. Johnson
Download or read book All Power to the Lamb written by James R. Johnson and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2011-04 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you were God, writing a book you wanted men to understand, would you write it in such a way that men would have to make up meaning in order to understand it, or would you write it in such a way that those that seek to understand could actually come to a knowledge of its truth (Mt 7:7)? The present commentary takes the position that God wrote Revelation such that with sufficient effort and intellectual honesty, readers can understand it. Certainly God uses symbols in Revelation, but when He does, He provides inspired interpretations of the symbols. This commentary seeks to avoid the mistakes of the views that use the symbolical approach to Revelation (preterist, continuous historical, spiritualist, and idealist). These approaches suffer from two basic flaws: assuming the text is symbolical when it is not and making up meaning regarding the text based on stream of consciousness word association, much as one would do looking at Rorschach inkblots. This commentary seeks to avoid telling God what He should have said and strives to understand what God actually meant. Of all the existing approaches to understanding Revelation, this commentary is most closely aligned with the dispensationalist (premillennialist/Left Behind) view in that it views Revelation from a literalist perspective. It is different from the typical dispensationalist schema in that it views the seven seals as the powers of the Lamb, understands the exercise of the powers of the seven seals to be simultaneous processes, and casts chapters 8-22 as three parallel prophecies of the Lamb's power over the course of the histories of Israel, the nations, and the saints. This commentary also makes use of many of the non-canonical works that provide insight into the spirit world and detail regarding the end of the present age.
Download or read book Revelation written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2019-05-21 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Where do we go after death? What happens to us? What factors influence our destiny? What will happen to the world in years to come? Is there a controlling divine force in human experience? Is there a plan, or is life a product of random occurrences, of chance? Why is it the righteous who are persecuted and suffer while the wicked seem to prosper? Is there justice in the universe? The book of Revelation offers answers to many of these questions. Since, however, it is one of the more difficult of the New Testament books to read and interpret, it is often overlooked, neglected or even avoided by today’s Christians. Yet it addresses many prophetic issues of importance to those seeking to understand God’s plan for the future. Speaking through its heavy symbolism and sometimes strange visions of heaven, angels, beasts, earthly turmoil and destruction, the Apocalypse offers hope that God will overcome evil and that he does indeed control human destiny.
