Book excerpt: Charles Webster Leadbeater 16 February 1854 - 1 March 1934) was an influential member of the Theosophical Society, author on occult subjects and co-initiator with J. I. Wedgwood of the Liberal Catholic Church. Originally a priest of the Church of England, his interest in spiritualism caused him to end his affiliation with Anglicanism in favour of the Theosophical Society, where he became an associate of Annie Besant. He became a high-ranking officer of the society, but resigned in 1906 amid a sex scandal. Accusations of his detractors were never proven, and after Annie Besant became President of the Society, he was readmitted in 1908. Leadbeater went on to write over 69 books and pamphlets as well as maintain regular speaking engagements. His efforts on behalf of the society assured his status as one of its leading members until his death in 1934.Leadbeater was born in Stockport, Cheshire, in 1854. His father, Charles Sr., was born in Lincoln and his mother Emma was born in Liverpool. He was an only child. By 1861 the family had relocated to London, where his father was a railway contractor's clerk.

Book excerpt: We like to think we are sensible beings who base our actions on conscious decisions. The fact is, all of us are subject to the occasional irrational impulse, the "wild hair" that surprises us and those around us. Usually, this is not a big problem -- in fact, it can act as a safety valve for our creative abilities and a check against unnecessary self-restriction. But it's not so healthy when we find ourselves driven by compulsions and obsessions that seem to take over our lives and consume our attention and energy. How can we discover the origins of these forces? Can we turn them into something constructive? Astrology provides a key to these questions in the quindecile. This newly researched 165-degree aspect of hidden driving forces is thoroughly explored in these pages by an experienced astrologer and mental health professional. Numerous chart examples support the analysis of the quindecile in natal, transit, progressed, and synastry horoscopes. A full set of delineations and interpretations lets you quickly add this illuminating factor to your understanding of any chart. In these pages, you will explore: * The psychological dynamics of obsession-compulsion * Planetary dynamics by sign, element, and triplicity * The quindecile in natals, progressions, transits, and synastry * A full reference section of interpretations and delineations * Numerous chart examples of well-known people You will find that The Quindecile not only points out the nature of inner compulsions, but also suggests ways to transform them into constructive, creative activities and projects. Book Synopsis The Hidden Life in Freemasonry by : Charles Webster Leadbeater
Download or read book The Hidden Life in Freemasonry written by Charles Webster Leadbeater and published by Jazzybee Verlag. This book was released on 1926 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Masonic fellowship differs from all other societies in that candidates for membership have to join it blindfold, and cannot receive much information about it until they actually enter its ranks. Even then the majority of Masons usually obtain only the most general idea of the meaning of its ceremonies, and seldom penetrate further than an elementary moral interpretation of its principal symbols. In this book it is the object, while preserving due secrecy upon those matters which must be kept secret, to explain something of the deeper meaning and purpose of Freemasonry, in the hope of arousing among the Brn. a more profound reverence for that of which they are the custodians and a fuller understanding of the mysteries of the Craft. Although the book is primarily intended for the instruction of members of the Co-Masonic Order, whose desire, as is expressed in their ritual, is to pour the waters of esoteric knowledge into the Masonic vessels, the author hopes nevertheless that it may appeal to a wider circle, and may perhaps be of use to some of those many Brn. in the masculine Craft who are seeking for a deeper interpretation of Masonic symbolism than is given in the majority of their Lodges, showing them that in the ritual which they know and love so well are enshrined splendid ideals and deep spiritual teachings which are of the most absorbing interest to the student of the inner side of life.
