Book Synopsis Development of Flexible Pavement Rut Prediction Models from the NCAT Test Track Structural Study Sections Data by : Suresh Immanuel Selvaraj
Download or read book Development of Flexible Pavement Rut Prediction Models from the NCAT Test Track Structural Study Sections Data written by Suresh Immanuel Selvaraj and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specifically, eight test sections at the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) Test Track were instrumented to measure vertical pressures in the unbound base and subgrade layers. The test sections consisted of various HMA thicknesses and used modified and unmodified asphalt binders. Material properties were established using backcalculation of falling weight deflectometer (FWD) data. The test sections were then simulated with the layered elastic computer program, WESLEA. Comparisons between theoretical and measured pavement responses were made over a wide range of environmental conditions and the two different truck load configurations. The measured responses were generally within 15% of theoretical with a strong correlation between the two sets of data.

Book Synopsis Initial Analysis of the Sulfur-Extended Test Track Constructed at Washington State University by : Robert Lawrence Garman
Download or read book Initial Analysis of the Sulfur-Extended Test Track Constructed at Washington State University written by Robert Lawrence Garman and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Due to shortages and price increases of asphalt, researchers, oil companies and governmental agencies are exploring the possible utilization of substitute binders and asphalt extenders for pavement construction. These explorations have produced new emerging technologies such as the recycling of asphalt, asphalt rejuvenation, and asphalt extension through the use of wood lignins or sulfur. This report evaluates the sulfur-extended asphalt, and is based upon recently acquired data from the Washington State University (WSU) test track. A brief description of the state-of-the-art of the extension of asphalt with sulfur is presented in Chapter I.A brief description of the Lufkin, Texas and the Boulder City, Nevada field trials is presented in Chapter II to give the reader a better understanding of current field trials. Further details on the construction of the WSU test track are given in Chapter IV.
Book Synopsis The Use of Falling Weight Deflectometer Data in Monitoring Flexible Pavement Systems by : NC. Jackson
Download or read book The Use of Falling Weight Deflectometer Data in Monitoring Flexible Pavement Systems written by NC. Jackson and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pavement performance studies are being conducted in the states of Nevada and Washington for the purpose of developing mechanistically based pavement design procedures for highways. A critical element of each of these studies is the statewide characterization of the pavement materials. The materials characterization process has included laboratory and field testing for 16 sites in Washington and 27 sites in Nevada.
