Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book suggests that religion, in its usual sense, can be replaced by something better, that the human spirit or subjectivity can be the subject of scientific study and that lack of purpose or design in the universe is not a handicap but a positive opportunity for intelligent beings to make of the universe and its contents what they reasonably can. The book breaks new ground in suggesting a radical alternative to religion. It offers a scientific and humanist alternative to religion which appeals to people’s critical faculties rather than emotions or intuitions. It also challenges current views of causation and the principle of sufficient reason by stressing the subjectivity of our reasoning powers and clarifying these in relation to an independent external reality. It develops and elaborates a notion of the ’noosphere’ within a theoretical system, this enables the notion to assume a scientific importance which it currently lacks because it is treated as an isolated, eccentric and rather mystical idea.

Gain insight into the secrets of energy healing with authentic healers who manipulate energy to produce healing beyond the capabilities of traditional medicine. Donna Smith-Moncrieffe continues gathering evidence for the afterlife, this time going where few have gone, into the world of dark sances. Using her finely honed critical skills she makes the reader aware that, far from having died out or being totally fraudulent, genuine physical mediumship still exists. She systematically describes the evidence she personally gathered in a series of paradigm shifting sances held in the United States. Ever the thorough researcher, she conducts fascinating follow-up interviews with witnesses and experts in the field. Her conclusions will stun you. Dr. Victor Zammit and Wendy Zammit, Co-authors of A Lawyer Presents the Evidence for the Afterlife and The Friday Afterlife Report Medium9 explores the fascinating phenomena of physical mediumship from interviews with participants as well as from the viewpoint of the authors experience. For those readers who wish to understand the nature of our third dimensional reality as well as what lies beyond and how our world can interact with higher dimensional realities, Medium9 is a unique study of consciousness. Book excerpt: Social Policy Review provides students, academics and all those interested in welfare issues with detailed analyses of progress and change in areas of major interest during the past year. Bringing together a selection of commissioned papers, the Review is organised in three parts. First, it concentrates on the main policy developments during 2005 in relation to five key areas of welfare provision, both in the UK and internationally. The second part, this year concentrating on the theme of health and well-being, draws on current research to explore key policy issues and challenges. The final section explores employment and later life - an often neglected area of social policy, yet one that will increasingly dominate the contemporary news agenda and that has long term implications for social policy.

Book excerpt: There are so many religions and so many methods of worship: Can we all be right? Can we all be wrong? Can only one be right? This book does not attack Christianity. I always clarify that. It aims to promote the PRACTICE of Christianity at the expense of the RELIGION of Christianity. Its a fine line, but easy to understand if you see that Christianity is a way of life and not an exclusive club of individuals. For many years I went to church regularly and yet, sometimes I woke up feeling like nothing in the world made any sense. Everything seemed so complicated when it came to discussions on who was on the right path to worshipping God and whether or not my worship was acceptable to Him. I often wondered why God desired a relationship with me and yet, seemed to cloak Himself in impenetrable mystery. I couldnt make sense of why it was so much easier to go astray than to find Him until one morning when I felt the scales fall from my eyes. Every fibre of legacy knowledge Ive held from childhood was shaken and thrown down and replaced with an absolutely empty mind that God has been filling slowly. Emptiness had never felt so fulfilling, but now, it did. I had not actually come to the realisation of my much sought after answers. On the contrary, I suddenly had the right questions. Those questions set me on a path that led me straight to the intentions of the Almighty. Everything suddenly made sense and this book attempts to share some of my realisations. I also attempt to take you on the same questioning journey Ive embarked on. There are 3 cardinal things I believe you must appreciate in order to understand Gods intentions for mankind. In studying His word and seeking His face, all His intentions, actions and commands fulfill these 3 things. Since the creation of man: God has had one sole mission: RECONCILIATION He has had only one obstacle to achieving that intention: SIN He commands only one thing once the obstacle is surmounted: LOVE If you truly seek Him with an open heart, then you will certainly find Him and thats a promise from Him, not me.

Book excerpt: Research in action engages the researcher who wants to live up to the challenges of contemporary science and to contribute to innovation and social change. This ambition to contribute to change raises many questions. How to define the main target group of the research? What role does this group play in the research? Which methods of data collection are most appropriate? Who are the commissioners of the research and do their interests match with those of the prime target group? How to deal with power relations in research situations? What do these issues mean for the relation of researcher with the people in the researched situation? And, last but not least, what does it all imply for the researcher him- or herself? These questions have to be dealt with in situations in which the design and organization of the research is still open but also in situations where these have already been preformatted through the research proposal or earlier developments. In any case, they have to be framed in the theoretical considerations of what is science. This book aims to assist scholars and practitioners who would want to deal with this kind of research and questions. The book does not offer recipes, nor fixed scenarios. It presents a series of practical research cases and theoretical insights by experienced researchers who themselves struggled with what is probably the most meaningful questions of the science today. The practical examples of research in action are from different disciplines and include themes from health care, policy research, agricultural technology and education, in Northern and Southern context. Four leading themes of research in action are introduced in the first chapter. In the last chapter the editors return to the dilemmas research in action and try to clarify the options and responses that are possible in different situations.

Book excerpt: The capability of today's man has become so narrow that it is painful to imagine. Today's human life is reduced to working, eating, sleeping, and reproducing. First, they placed today's man in a certain place, then gave him the wrong values. National values, patriotism, ideological values. They caught him at a certain point. They closed all avenues for him. They took away his chances. Today's man knows nothing about life. He sees nothing of creation. Today's man never knows how far the beauty of nature and divine creation is spread. He knows nothing. Because his whole life is spent fighting over things that are all lies and illusions, his life is wasted fighting and struggling with his comrades. He never gets anywhere. That is why he is in agony. Then few people take advantage of the facilities and the nations beat each other over the head, they are busy enjoying life and creation. The sole mission of humanity today is to provide land for certain groups to live on. Human slavery today has become so brilliant that it has almost assumed the color of sanctity and godliness. In the name of knowledge and education, he learns the art of slavery in the first half of his life, and in the second half, he does his slavery. They call it "alive"!
