After a quiet two years on his own ship, he is attacked by pirated and abducted by the cruel pirate captain, Scotch Riddler. After months of fighting and torturing, Captain Riddler and Wren begin to form a romance. It started as nothing but sex and teasing but soon evolved into real feelings of love and caring. Everything changes when a giant white owl begins to threaten the ship. The owl, Ol' Arty, takes Scotch captive, sending Wren on a spiraling journey to try to find his lover. When Scotch finally returns, albeit injured, he lets Wren captain the airship until he recovers. Wren became a crueler captain than Scotch ever was. This decision to let Wren captain his ship ultimately ends in tragedy when a new crew member joins the ship.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gazed upon from the valleys between, the high mountains may seem beautiful and serene places. The domain of wild things, of hunters and wanderers with a little more wilderness in their blood. But the mountains are also mysterious places, that hide secrets long lost to the inhabitants of the lowlands. When a photograph of a remote high-mountain valley comes into the hands of young wanderer, it ignites a fascination within him, that quickly grows into a compulsion to find and visit this place. Only accessible in the winter, and rumoured to be a place never touched by the warmth of summer, this hidden place seems to hold traces of antiquity and dreams of what once were. Like all good ghost stories, The Ghosts of Winter is a haunting tale of supernatural and ageless mystery, which can almost but not quite be rationalised, that will leave many readers pondering the implications and wanting to know more.

Tragically, it crashed and erupted in a ball of fire in 1922, claiming the lives of thirty-four of the brave men aboard. Author Nancy E. Sheppard reveals the forgotten, harrowing story of one of the last great airships and those who sacrificed for the promise of a new era in aviation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To gain an understanding of the past, it is sometimes useful to test what one has learned by investigating the past. That is what this book is about. It is a continuation of my book, "The Whale Culture of Greenland". Based on the details about the whale culture in Greenland that I learned from rock carvings on a cliff in Eastern Greenland, I and like-minded individuals have built an airship, as it could have been built by a hunter-gatherer culture in the Arctic during the Holocene Maximum, and we will now attempt to fly it around Greenland and propel it with the fuel we can gather from hunting. This is therefore the story of our journey in a hot-air balloon around Greenland and how we managed the long trip north around the island and down along the west coast until we returned to the east coast, facing all the challenges and dangerous situations that arose along the way. It is also the story of what an ancient people could achieve in the distant past and what it tells about their spread in the Arctic and beyond. It is a long and eventful journey that I and my companions undertake, which does not go as expected and certainly does not end as such, but still bears the fruits we desired. The journey is long and tough and constantly tests us, as the Arctic must have tested the whale culture in Greenland's distant past, but we endure it all the way to the abrupt end of the journey, thereby showing that an airborne culture in Greenland could have been possible around the time of the Holocene Maximum.

While working undercover on the frontline of ISIS-infected Iraq, he is approached by a middleman looking to find a missing Saudi Prince. What Locke doesn't know is that the young Prince may be carrying a secret agreement made with the Pakistanis in the 1960s, and that his father may be trying to topple the Saudi government. Who is the mysterious Saudi who hired Locke's team? Is the prince's disappearance personal or political? And all the while a duplicitous adversary much closer to home waits for his chance to strike... A compulsive and explosive thriller, Deep Black is perfect for fans of Rob Sinclair, Daniel Silva and Tom Clancy. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important volume provides a plethora of information on aerial vehicles and their possible roles in revolutionizing agricultural procedures through spectral analysis of terrains, soils, crops, water resources, diseases, floods, drought, and farm activities. There are several semi-autonomous and autonomous (robotic) aerial vehicles that are examined for their efficiency in offering detailed spectral data about agrarian regions and individual farms. Among them, small drone aircrafts such as fixed-winged and copter models have already caught the imagination of farmers. They are spreading fast in every nook and corner of the farm world. However, there are many more aerial robots that are utilized in greater detail during farming. In this volume, the focus is on aerial vehicles such as parafoils, blimps, aerostats, and kites, and how they are being evaluated for use in experimental farms and fields. A few aerial vehicles, such as robotic parafoils, have been adopted to procure aerial spectral data and visual imagery to aid agronomic procedures. These and other aerial robots are expected to change and improve the use of the sky in agricultural endeavors and the way we conduct agronomic procedures in the very near future. This volume is a timely resource for agricultural researchers, professors and students, and the general public who are interested in aerial vehicles.

The result of which is my book The Green Leaves of Winter a collection of short stories and poems. The stories and poems are mostly humorous, serious, horrific with a strong sexual element. The inclusion of the poems breaks up the stories making the book a more interesting read. The stories range from bare fist fighting, naughty Nuns, Black Shuck the devil s dog, even god trying to make prettier bums for his angels, and a dog on trial trying to stop them removing his nuts ! Truly a strange story collection.

Examples of shell structures include automobile bodies, domes, water and oil tanks, pipelines, ship hulls, aircraft fuselages, turbine blades, laudspeaker cones, but also balloons, parachutes, biological membranes, a human skin, a bottle of wine or a beer can. This volume contains full texts of over 100 papers presented by specialists from over 20 countries at the 8th Conference "Shell Structures: Theory and Applications", 12-14 October, 2005 in Jurata (Poland). The aim of the meeting was to bring together scientists, designers, engineers and other specialists in shell structures in order to discuss important results and new ideas in this field. The goal is to pursue more accurate theoretical models, to develop more powerful and versatile methods of analysis, and to disseminate expertise in design and maintenance of shell structures. Among the authors there are many distinguished specialists of shell structures, including the authors of general lectures: I.V. Andrianov (Ukraine), V.A. Eremeyev (Russia), A. Ibrahimbegovic (France), P. Klosowski (Poland), B.H. Kröplin (Germany), E. Ramm (Germany), J.M. Rotter (UK) and D. Steigmann (USA). The subject area of the papers covers various theoretical models and numerical analyses of strength, dynamics, stability, optimization etc. of different types of shell structures, their design and maintenance, as well as modelling of some surface-related mechanical phenomena.
