In this short and spirited book Campbell introduces readers to the apostle he has studied in depth over his scholarly career. Enter with Campbell into Paul’s world, relive the story of Paul’s action-packed ministry, and follow the development of Paul’s thought throughout both his physical and his spiritual travels. Ideal for students, individual readers, and study groups, Paul: An Apostle’s Journey dramatically recounts the life of one of early Christianity’s most fascinating figures—and offers powerful insight into his mind and his influential message.

Book excerpt: "In the first part of this volume I have laid before the reader reasons which appear to me to show that the Epistle which is known to us as 1 Corinthians was not written (as is generally supposed) in the spring of the same year in which St. Paul left Ephesus, but about a year earlier; and that, consequently, it cannot be the Epistle of whose reception by the Corinthian Church St. Paul first received news from Titus after he had come to Macedonia. The second part gives the proofs which have led me to the conclusion that the Epistle with which 1 Corinthians has for so long a time been wrongly identified has not been totally lost, but that a considerable portion of it has been preserved for us, and is to be found in the last four chapters of the document which appears in our canon as 2 Corinthians. The concluding portion of this volume will enable the reader to see and examine for himself the result of this theory exhibited in a concrete form." --From the preface

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second edition of An Introduction to the New Testament provides readers with pertinent material and a helpful framework that will guide them in their understanding of the New Testament texts. Many new and diverse cultural, historical, social-scientific, sociorhetorical, narrative, textual, and contextual studies have been examined since the publication of the first edition, which was in print for twenty years. The authors retain the original tripartite arrangement on 1) The world of the New Testament, 2) Interpreting the New Testament, and 3) Jesus and early Christianity. An appropriate book for anyone who seeks to better understand what is involved in the exegesis of New Testaments texts today.

This book was released on 2014-06-24 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: M.F. Sadler was an Anglican priest. He served as rector of Honiton, England, and wrote several other commentaries, including volumes on each of the four Gospels. SADLER, MICHAEL FERREBEE (1819-1895), theologian, eldest son of Michael Thomas Sadler [q. v.], was born at Leeds in 1819. Educated at Sherborne school, he entered St. John's College, Cambridge, after a short interval of business life. He was elected Tyrwhitt's Hebrew scholar in 1846, and graduated B.A. 1847. He was vicar of Bridgwater from 1857 to 1864 (during which time he was appointed to the prebend of Combe, 13th in Wells Cathedral), and of St. Paul's, Bedford, from 1864 to 1869; he was rector of Honiton from 1869 till his death. In 1869 he received an offer of the bishopric of Montreal, carrying with it the dignity of metropolitan of Canada, but refused it on medical advice. He was a voluminous writer on theological subjects, and a strong high churchman. His works, which had a large circulation, did much to popularise the tractarian doctrines.
