The overall response rate was 88.6% Recommendations for future surveys are made. Separate volumes document the survey data files for respondents. Other reports in this series provide more extensive background documentation of the 1986 survey. In the model, recruiter production is conceptualized as a joint function of recruiter performance and youths' propensity to enlist.
