Book excerpt: La presente investigación articula debates en torno a la intervención de la Terapia Ocupacional desarrollados desde visiones como las epistemologías feministas (Haraway, 1997/2004), los estudios sociales de la ciencia (Latour, 1992) y los estudios de discapacidad (Barton, 1998; Oliver & Barnes, 1998). La intención es hacer dialogar a los diferentes agentes (principalmente terapeutas ocupacionales y personas con diversidad funcional) acerca de las formas de gobierno (racionalidades políticas y tecnologías de gobierno) y subjetivación presentes en estas prácticas terapéuticas. El objetivo de este diálogo será problematizar y no sólo deconstruir las categorías o prácticas sociales de las que formamos parte, sino que potenciar un espacio de conocimiento colectivo que nos permita resignificar las relaciones, en un compromiso de cambiar y difractar (Haraway, 1991/1995) las estructuras de gobierno y subjetivación en base a las nociones de articulación, dignidad, interdependencia, y la dimensión político - social de la Terapia Ocupacional. Los objetivos apuntan a una reflexión conjunta en torno a la Terapia Ocupacional, con las terapeutas ocupacionales y personas con diversidad funcional3 usuarias de servicios, que permita difractar y reflexionar acerca de las formas de subjetivación y Gubernamentalidad presentes en esta disciplina en construcción a ser ciencia, para: Reconstruir el concepto del "otro" en la intervención desde una noción de interdependencia Valorar el conocimiento de las personas con diversidad funcional respecto de las experiencias en torno a la Terapia Ocupacional Posicionar políticamente la disciplina respecto de los derechos de las personas con diversidad funcional. La metodología que se utilizó fue la etnografía y las producciones narrativas, por medio de las cuales se generó un diálogo y conocimiento con terapeutas ocupacionales y personas que han utilizado sus servicios. El análisis de resultados se realizó por medio de la categorización de la información registrada en el diario de campo que, en conjunto con las producciones narrativas, generó mi narrativa que integraba ambos procesos. Finalmente se concluye con los principales aportes de la tesis, sus limitaciones y proyecciones. 1 Relacionada a la profesión de la Terapia Ocupacional, se ha desarrollado desde la década de los 80, el área de conocimiento disciplinar denominada Ciencia de la Ocupación. 2 Para evitar el uso de masculino como genérico (Los [hombres] autores), sin complicar la lectura del texto añadiendo el femenino separado de una barra (Los/as autores/as), se ha optado por usar el femenino, entendiendo que hacemos referencia al sustantivo elíptico persona (Las [personas] autoras), cuando la redacción permite una lectura cómoda a la lectora. 3 Es un término alternativo al de discapacidad que ha comenzado a utilizarse en España por iniciativa de los propios afectados. El término fue propuesto en el Foro de Vida Independiente en enero de 2005 y pretende sustituir a otros cuya semántica puede considerarse peyorativa, tales como "discapacidad" o "minusvalía".

Desde los primeros trabajos de Stow en 1946, los principios teóricos y prácticos de la TO siguen creciendo. Los fundamentos científicos estaban organizados en un marco teórico; esto se ha traducido en prácticas de intervención con objetivos funcionales, que tienen en cuenta los destinatarios, agrupados por similitud de patología y necesidades: por ejemplo, por dificultades cognitivas o problemas de movilidad. El modelo aplicativo incluye una evaluación de la persona y el uso de técnicas específicas. En los últimos años, ha asumido importancia un nuevo aspecto. Se llama “modelo de enfoque global” y es particularmente apropiado para la edad de desarrollo. La observación inicial se centra en las modalidades con las cuales el niño lleva a cabo sus actividades diarias, las características del medio ambiente en el que vive y cómo ese sostiene y motiva al niño. El primer objetivo de este modelo es identificar el área de potencialidad y de necesidad con respecto al niño, a la consciencia de sus padres y a las propuestas del terapeuta. El modelo analiza dos áreas de desarrollo del niño: – el área de las competencias en relación con su estado de desarrollo: habilidades motoras, sensoriales, sociales, cognitivas y relacionales. – El área de las actividades prácticas y de ejecución de las tareas, teniendo en cuenta la etapa de desarrollo del niño; en efecto, los compromisos hechos para el cuidado personal y la independencia cambian con la edad. Para evaluar las habilidades del niño y su capacidad de participación social en la óptica de la TO, es importante observar el papel del niño en su contexto habitual, las tareas en las que está involucrado y las esperanzas del ambiente donde vive. Esta guía analiza tres puntos principales: las actividades para la autonomía personal, la capacidad de jugar y organizar el propio tiempo libre, el papel de la TO en la preparación de los niños a la escuela.
