La idea general es la de disponer de un material razonablemente autocontenido, que disponga de las bases teóricas de iniciación y una abundante cantidad de actividades a resolver en aula y en laboratorio, que permitan al estudiante seguir la materia sin incertidumbre y ampliar sus conocimientos con la bibliografía que dispone el área. Es bastante complejo encontrar cuál debería ser el enfoque de un libro de estas características. De tal manera que simplemente me propuse desarrollar los temas tan cerca de una clase como fuese posible. La primera edición tuvo muy buena acogida en los estudiantes y en muchos colegas docentes que utilizaron el texto para dictar cursos de comunicaciones en diversas instituciones. De todos ellos recibí muchas sugerencias y aportes que intenté reflejar en esta segunda edición.Es de destacar que la mayoría de las sugerencias que me hicieron están reflejadas en este nuevo material y las que faltan no se pueden agregar por razones de contenidos y de espacio. Para poder escribir, en mi caso, debo quitar horas al sueño y al poco tiempo disponible que tengo para mi familia y es en este aspecto que mi esposa Silvia y mis hijos Agustín y Alejandro en ningún momento dejaron de alentarme en mis esfuerzos. Por otro lado mi hijo mayor Eduardo, que es un ingeniero de la nueva generación, colaboró intensivamente en este nuevo material. Solo puedo expresar que estoy muy feliz de tener una familia que nunca deja de estar a mi lado. El texto está dividido en cuatro capítulos, el primero sobre la comunicación analógica en amplitud, el segundo sobre la comunicación analógica en frecuencia, el tercero trata sobre la digitalización de información y el cuarto sobre la comunicación digital. Es decir, se cubren los tópicos básicos de comunicaciones analógicas y digitales, que tradicionalmente se enseñan en dos materias cuatrimestrales.Los temas se desarrollan con explicaciones sencillas y claras, con el aporte matemático mínimo e indispensable, luego se trabaja un ejemplo práctico y se propone la resolución de una actividad. También para cada capítulo se presenta un autotest y así conocer el grado de comprensión del estudiante. La resolución de las actividades de cada capítulo, como así también la de los autotest, se adjunta gratuitamente al libro en un CD. Es de destacar que en el CD, también se dispone de un graficador que permite visualizar las diferentes técnicas de comunicación que forman parte de las actividades a resolver. Este graficador es un Applet de Java de difusión gratuita, que se constituye en una herramienta de trabajo muy útil dentro de este curso. El curso puede aplicarse en dos materias cuatrimestrales o en una anual, orientada a la etapa del técnico universitario y completando el docente con sus aportes, acordes a la necesidad del entorno. También es muy útil para quienes se dedican a estudiar de manera autodidacta. Cumplimentado el presente, para quienes deseen profundizar estos temas pueden consultar el libro de mi autoría, Teoría de las Comunicaciones del año 2002 de la Editorial Universitas. Contando con más de veinte años de experiencia como profesional y docente, expreso que es imposible lograr que un proyecto llegue a feliz término solo.
