Book Synopsis Guide to Information Sources in Mathematics and Statistics by : Martha A. Tucker
Download or read book Guide to Information Sources in Mathematics and Statistics written by Martha A. Tucker and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2004-09-30 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a reference for librarians, mathematicians, and statisticians involved in college and research level mathematics and statistics in the 21st century. We are in a time of transition in scholarly communications in mathematics, practices which have changed little for a hundred years are giving way to new modes of accessing information. Where journals, books, indexes and catalogs were once the physical representation of a good mathematics library, shelves have given way to computers, and users are often accessing information from remote places. Part I is a historical survey of the past 15 years tracking this huge transition in scholarly communications in mathematics. Part II of the book is the bibliography of resources recommended to support the disciplines of mathematics and statistics. These are grouped by type of material. Publication dates range from the 1800's onwards. Hundreds of electronic resources-some online, both dynamic and static, some in fixed media, are listed among the paper resources. Amazingly a majority of listed electronic resources are free.

Book Synopsis Numerical Methods for Non-Newtonian Fluids by :
Download or read book Numerical Methods for Non-Newtonian Fluids written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2010-12-20 with total page 824 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Non-Newtonian flows and their numerical simulations have generated an abundant literature, as well as many publications and references to which can be found in this volume’s articles. This abundance of publications can be explained by the fact that non-Newtonian fluids occur in many real life situations: the food industry, oil & gas industry, chemical, civil and mechanical engineering, the bio-Sciences, to name just a few. Mathematical and numerical analysis of non-Newtonian fluid flow models provide challenging problems to partial differential equations specialists and applied computational mathematicians alike. This volume offers investigations. Results and conclusions that will no doubt be useful to engineers and computational and applied mathematicians who are focused on various aspects of non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics. New review of well-known computational methods for the simulation viscoelastic and viscoplastic types.; Discusses new numerical methods that have proven to be more efficient and more accurate than traditional methods.; Articles that discuss the numerical simulation of particulate flow for viscoelastic fluids.;

Book Synopsis Numerical Methods in Scientific Computing by : Germund Dahlquist
Download or read book Numerical Methods in Scientific Computing written by Germund Dahlquist and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 742 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new book from the authors of the classic book Numerical methods addresses the increasingly important role of numerical methods in science and engineering. More cohesive and comprehensive than any other modern textbook in the field, it combines traditional and well-developed topics with other material that is rarely found in numerical analysis texts, such as interval arithmetic, elementary functions, operator series, convergence acceleration, and continued fractions. Although this volume is self-contained, more comprehensive treatments of matrix computations will be given in a forthcoming volume. A supplementary Website contains three appendices: an introduction to matrix computations; a description of Mulprec, a MATLAB multiple precision package; and a guide to literature, algorithms, and software in numerical analysis. Review questions, problems, and computer exercises are also included. For use in an introductory graduate course in numerical analysis and for researchers who use numerical methods in science and engineering.
Book Synopsis Coupled Multiscale Simulation and Optimization in Nanoelectronics by : Michael Günther
Download or read book Coupled Multiscale Simulation and Optimization in Nanoelectronics written by Michael Günther and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-06-15 with total page 565 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designing complex integrated circuits relies heavily on mathematical methods and calls for suitable simulation and optimization tools. The current design approach involves simulations and optimizations in different physical domains (device, circuit, thermal, electromagnetic) and in a range of electrical engineering disciplines (logic, timing, power, crosstalk, signal integrity, system functionality). COMSON was a Marie Curie Research Training Network created to meet these new scientific and training challenges by (a) developing new descriptive models that take these mutual dependencies into account, (b) combining these models with existing circuit descriptions in new simulation strategies and (c) developing new optimization techniques that will accommodate new designs. The book presents the main project results in the fields of PDAE modeling and simulation, model order reduction techniques and optimization, based on merging the know-how of three major European semiconductor companies with the combined expertise of university groups specialized in developing suitable mathematical models, numerical schemes and e-learning facilities. In addition, a common Demonstrator Platform for testing mathematical methods and approaches was created to assess whether they are capable of addressing the industry’s problems, and to educate young researchers by providing hands-on experience with state-of-the-art problems.
Download or read book Complex fluids written by Pierre Saramito and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-26 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a comprehensive overview of the modeling of complex fluids, including many common substances, such as toothpaste, hair gel, mayonnaise, liquid foam, cement and blood, which cannot be described by Navier-Stokes equations. It also offers an up-to-date mathematical and numerical analysis of the corresponding equations, as well as several practical numerical algorithms and software solutions for the approximation of the solutions. It discusses industrial (molten plastics, forming process), geophysical (mud flows, volcanic lava, glaciers and snow avalanches), and biological (blood flows, tissues) modeling applications. This book is a valuable resource for undergraduate students and researchers in applied mathematics, mechanical engineering and physics.
