Book Synopsis Tales of 100 treatments by : Shizuto Masunaga

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is a collection of 58 articles published in the 70-80s in the Japanese magazine “Ningen-Igaku” (Human Medicine). Here there are some lines written by the author in the preface: “Western medicine scientifically studies abstract phenomena according to disease name. However, even if a same disease name is given, from the Oriental medicine perspective,I often keenly feel that precise treatment is impossible if you do not consider how patients with similar symptoms might differ in constitution, personality, and environment, which involves very different disease mechanisms and required responses. It occurred to me that people might benefit from reading my impressions of practical experience in those kinds of clinical cases”. These stories are autobiographical and deal intensely with the idea and philosophy of Keiraku shiatsu from the point of view and lifestyle adopted by Masunaga sensei. In this volume, not only he describes the treatments and modalities specific of Iokai, but also the strategy of therapy and the causes of illness, selecting important cases from his own experience. The contents of this book are still relevant and useful for the growth of all shiatsu practitioners/teachers and are very important to perform the treatments considering sho (oriental diagnosis) and kyo and jitsu according to the indications of Shizuto Masunaga.

Download or read book Masunaga Shiatsu Manuals 4th month written by Shizuto Masunaga and published by SHIATSU MILANO EDITORE. This book was released on 2024-02-27 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 70s, Shizuto Masunaga Sensei, a great master and the creator of Keiraku shiatsu (meridian shiatsu) conducted four-month correspondence courses. He sent his students the four manuals he had written to purpose. Given their valuable content, we decided to translate them from Japanese, believing them to be of great help to students, practitioners, and teachers of shiatsu alike. This fourth and last volume illustrates clinical shiatsu, examining a series of common “ailments” and recommending the most appropriate meridian treatment, from the illustration of the symptoms to “how to assess” and “how to cure”. Each section is supported by figures giving the meridian pathways. The final week also considers shiatsu for children and beauty. The concepts are accessible to everyone and are useful for we as practitioners and for the recipients we practice on. Shizuto Masunaga was truly a master, and his words always have something to teach us.

Book Synopsis Atlas of Shiatsu by : Wilfried Rappenecker
Download or read book Atlas of Shiatsu written by Wilfried Rappenecker and published by . This book was released on 2014-12-31 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book shows the courses of the meridians as they were described by Sensei Shizuto Masunaga in his meridian charts originally published in 1970. The sequence of descriptions (e.g., from the shoulder to the hands, from the Hara to the feet), models the flowing of the meridian energy from the body's center (Hara) towards the periphery. Meridians on the side and back of the body that do not pass through the Hara are not featured. Depictions of the meridian pathways usually consist of two parts. In the main text there will be the actual pathway descriptions. The color-contrasting text sections note such information as anatomical explanations, practical orientation, and typical deviations in the pathways. Differences from the depictions on Masunaga's charts are mentioned and described. Although the representations of the meridian pathways make up the core of this Atlas, there is also a chapter with thoughts on the nature of the phenomenon of meridians. Another chapter describes some basic principles of working with meridians. The introductory chapter combines clear descriptions and objective guidelines with a compassionate and refined interpretation of the subjective experience. Shiatsu students will benefit immensely from the detailed illustrations of the Zen Shiatsu meridians. They will also wisely bear in mind the perspective of spaciousness so well articulated by the authors. As practitioners, we will recall that our own qi is an equal participant in the connection with our receiving client-partner, and our own experience of contact with the meridian-vital, rich, imaginative, profound-is an essential element of the process of healing.

Download or read book Sunshine Picklelime written by Pamela Ferguson and published by Random House Books for Young Readers. This book was released on 2010-06-22 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pamela Ferguson's debut children's novel is a treat to read, a light-hearted tale of magical realism that moves between joy and sorrow to find meaning in the roller-coaster experiences of life. PJ Picklelime lives in a village very close to you. Meadows are knee-deep in wildflowers in early springtime. Summers are hot and dreamy when golden peaches the size of melons hang from the trees. Snow drifts like powdered sugar down the mountainside in winter. Life in PJ Picklelime's village is always a little out of the ordinary . . . just like PJ herself. There's the day Lemon Pie, a yellow warbler, came to live in her bushy crop of black hair and the morning when PJ cut her hair to help mop up an oil spill. There's the afternoon she made sweet, memory-filled lemonade that drew people from blocks away, and the night she chatted with owls in a barn full of honey. But PJ's spring is not all roses and rainbows, and after Lemon Pie flies away, PJ's parents split up, and a friend dies unexpectedly, PJ turns to her neighbors, with their philosophies from all over the world, for help in understanding. Can PJ find a way to recover her sunshine?
