Book excerpt: The technical report presents a table of the percentage points of the non-central t-distribution. Denote the degrees of freedom of the non-central t-distribution by f and the non-centrality parameter by delta. The percentage points, t sub o (f, delta, epsilon), are tabulated as a function of Delta = delta /square root(f) = 0.0 (.1) 3.5, f = 4 (1) 10, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, and probability levels epsilon = .001, .005, .010, .025, .050 (.05) .250, .500, .750, .800 (.05) .950, .975, .990, .995. This work enables the direct calculation of t sub o (f, delta, epsilon) and facilitates the computation of delta (f, t, epsilon), and covers a wider range of epsilon and delta than any other existing table except for the Johnson and Welch approximation method. Among its many uses is getting a confidence bound on the population of a normal distribution, with unknown parameters falling below (above) a preassigned limit, and solving other problems in sampling inspection by variables. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CRC Handbook of Percentiles of Non-Central t-Distributions is the first book to provide critical values of non-central t-distributions in an easy-to-use format. The book presents a brief introductory section that outlines properties and applications of non-central t-distributions and then explains the tables. The rest of the book consists of tables. The values listed were produced using cumulative probabilities. CRC Handbook of Percentiles of Non-Central t-Distributions is an essential reference of numerical tables of statistical functions for researchers, practitioners, scientists, and students involved with statistics in the areas of tolerance limits, variable sampling plans, confidence limits on quantiles, confidence limits on proportions, sample coefficient of variation and in computing the power of t-test.

Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive guidance for the use of sound statistical methods and for the evaluation of fatigue data of welded components and structures obtained under constant amplitude loading and used to produce S-N curves. Recommendations for analyzing fatigue data are available, although they do not deal with all the statistical treatments that may be required to utilize fatigue test results, and none of them offers specific guidelines for analyzing fatigue data obtained from tests on welded specimens. For an easy use, working sheets are provided to assist in the proper statistical assessment of experimental fatigue data concerning practical problems giving the procedure and a numerical application as illustration.

Book excerpt: This unique intermediate/advanced statistics text uses real research on antisocial behaviors, such as cyberbullying, stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination, to help readers across the social and behavioral sciences understand the underlying theory behind statistical methods. By presenting examples and principles of statistics within the context of these timely issues, the text shows how the results of analyses can be used to answer research questions. New techniques for data analysis and a wide range of topics are covered, including how to deal with "messy data" and the importance of engaging in exploratory data analysis.

This book was released on 2021-08-23 with total page 655 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Statistical concepts provide scientific framework in experimental studies, including randomized controlled trials. In order to design, monitor, analyze and draw conclusions scientifically from such clinical trials, clinical investigators and statisticians should have a firm grasp of the requisite statistical concepts. The Handbook of Statistical Methods for Randomized Controlled Trials presents these statistical concepts in a logical sequence from beginning to end and can be used as a textbook in a course or as a reference on statistical methods for randomized controlled trials. Part I provides a brief historical background on modern randomized controlled trials and introduces statistical concepts central to planning, monitoring and analysis of randomized controlled trials. Part II describes statistical methods for analysis of different types of outcomes and the associated statistical distributions used in testing the statistical hypotheses regarding the clinical questions. Part III describes some of the most used experimental designs for randomized controlled trials including the sample size estimation necessary in planning. Part IV describe statistical methods used in interim analysis for monitoring of efficacy and safety data. Part V describe important issues in statistical analyses such as multiple testing, subgroup analysis, competing risks and joint models for longitudinal markers and clinical outcomes. Part VI addresses selected miscellaneous topics in design and analysis including multiple assignment randomization trials, analysis of safety outcomes, non-inferiority trials, incorporating historical data, and validation of surrogate outcomes.
