Book Synopsis The Analysis of Fractional Differential Equations by : Kai Diethelm
Download or read book The Analysis of Fractional Differential Equations written by Kai Diethelm and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-08-18 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fractional calculus was first developed by pure mathematicians in the middle of the 19th century. Some 100 years later, engineers and physicists have found applications for these concepts in their areas. However there has traditionally been little interaction between these two communities. In particular, typical mathematical works provide extensive findings on aspects with comparatively little significance in applications, and the engineering literature often lacks mathematical detail and precision. This book bridges the gap between the two communities. It concentrates on the class of fractional derivatives most important in applications, the Caputo operators, and provides a self-contained, thorough and mathematically rigorous study of their properties and of the corresponding differential equations. The text is a useful tool for mathematicians and researchers from the applied sciences alike. It can also be used as a basis for teaching graduate courses on fractional differential equations.

Book Synopsis Tables of Fourier Transforms and Fourier Transforms of Distributions by : Fritz Oberhettinger
Download or read book Tables of Fourier Transforms and Fourier Transforms of Distributions written by Fritz Oberhettinger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a collection of integrals of the sine-, cosine- and exponential Fourier transforms of functions f(x). It is the second, considerably enlarged version of the author's previous publication "Tabellen zur Fourier Transformation" (Springer-Verlag 1957). In addition to numerous new results in Parts I-III, a new Part IV has been introduced dealing with problems in mathematical statistics. The aim of the book is to serve as a reference work for all those whose main interest is in the application of Fourier transform methods. These methods have found a wide variety of applications in the natural and technical sciences.

This book was released on 2008-01-24 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Problem Book in Quantum Field Theory contains about 200 problems with solutions or hints that help students to improve their understanding and develop skills necessary for pursuing the subject. It deals with the Klein-Gordon and Dirac equations, classical field theory, canonical quantization of scalar, Dirac and electromagnetic fields, the processes in the lowest order of perturbation theory, renormalization and regularization. The solutions are presented in a systematic and complete manner. The material covered and the level of exposition make the book appropriate for graduate and undergraduate students in physics, as well as for teachers and researchers.
Book Synopsis Complex Analysis by : Theodore W. Gamelin
Download or read book Complex Analysis written by Theodore W. Gamelin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-01 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An introduction to complex analysis for students with some knowledge of complex numbers from high school. It contains sixteen chapters, the first eleven of which are aimed at an upper division undergraduate audience. The remaining five chapters are designed to complete the coverage of all background necessary for passing PhD qualifying exams in complex analysis. Topics studied include Julia sets and the Mandelbrot set, Dirichlet series and the prime number theorem, and the uniformization theorem for Riemann surfaces, with emphasis placed on the three geometries: spherical, euclidean, and hyperbolic. Throughout, exercises range from the very simple to the challenging. The book is based on lectures given by the author at several universities, including UCLA, Brown University, La Plata, Buenos Aires, and the Universidad Autonomo de Valencia, Spain.

Book Synopsis Fundamentals of the Physical Theory of Diffraction by : Pyotr Ya. Ufimtsev
Download or read book Fundamentals of the Physical Theory of Diffraction written by Pyotr Ya. Ufimtsev and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2007-02-09 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first complete and comprehensive description of the modern Physical Theory of Diffraction (PTD) based on the concept of elementary edge waves (EEWs). The theory is demonstrated with the example of the diffraction of acoustic and electromagnetic waves at perfectly reflecting objects. The derived analytic expressions clearly explain the physical structure of the scattered field and describe in detail all of the reflected and diffracted rays and beams, as well as the fields in the vicinity of caustics and foci. Shadow radiation, a new fundamental component of the field, is introduced and proven to contain half of the total scattered power.

This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In preparing the English edition of this unique work, every effort has been made to obtain an easily read and lueid exposition of the material. This has frequently been done at the expense of a literal translation of the original text and it is felt that such liberties as have been taken with the author's language are justified in the interest of ease in readingo None of us pretends to be an authority in the Russian language, and we trust that the original intent of the authors has not been lost. The equations, whieh were for the most part taken verbatim from the original work, were eheeked only eursorily; obvious and previously noted errors have been eorreeted. Fortunately, the Russian and English mathematieal notations are generally in good agreement. An exeeption is the shortened abbreviations for the hyperbolie functions (e.g. sh for sinh), and the symbol Jm rather that Im to denote the imaginary part. As near as possible, these diserepaneies have been correeted. In preparing the Bibliography, works having an English equivalent have been translated into the English title, but in the text the referenee to the Russian work was retained, as it was impraetieal to attempt to find in eaeh ease the eorresponding eitation in the English edition. Authors' names and titles associated with purely Russian works have been transliterated as nearly as possible to the English equivalent, along with the equivalent English title of the work cited.
