Book Synopsis Encyclopedia of Lipidomics by : Markus R. Wenk
Download or read book Encyclopedia of Lipidomics written by Markus R. Wenk and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-11 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Encyclopedia of Lipidomics will present a complete overview of the field from fundamentals to new discoveries and from concepts, theories and experimental techniques to clinical and industrial applications. The book will develop with the active involvement of a strong editorial board comprised of leaders from the field. The Encyclopedia of Lipidomics intends to be a comprehensive reference resource serving to bridge the gap between clinical and basic science investigators and provide authoritative and digested information to students, scientists as well as non specialists. The book will have an edge over protocol type of works and databases in terms of having wider coverage through rigorous essays on terms, concepts, experimental and analytical techniques, applications and new challenges. Since lipidomics has strong linkages with several of the other biomedical and life sciences disciplines, the proposed encyclopedia will have a wide audience including graduate students, researchers and different levels of scientists in biomedicine, cellular and molecular biology, bioengineering, physiological and biochemistry, and pharmacology across both academia and industry.

Book Synopsis Master Medicine: Microbiology and Infection by : Timothy J. J. Inglis
Download or read book Master Medicine: Microbiology and Infection written by Timothy J. J. Inglis and published by Elsevier Health Sciences. This book was released on 2007-02-20 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title is directed primarily towards health care professionals outside of the United States. It is part of a series of books that reflects the trend towards a core curriculum and self-directed learning. The content is restricted to the 'must know' core information presented in a synoptic style. The diagrams that support the text are in a style that the reader can remember and reproduce in examinations. Each chapter ends with a selection of self-assessment material and full explanatory answers. These consolidate and expand on the chapter contents. Concise synoptic (not telegraphic text). Appropriate self-assessment material. Only covers core, so student knows the whole book is essential. Includes key objectives. Contains simple and memorable diagrams for reproduction in exams. Ideal for learning as well as examination review, specifically trying to stimulate the student into assessing his/her own knowledge. The books in the series both complement other available major texts, but also contain enough material to stand in the own right. Provides examination practice. Part of co-ordinated series. Contents refined to reflect 'core knowledge' Major revision of self-assessment material to match change in exam styles (more Extended Matching Questions and OSC-style questions)
Book Synopsis Fatty Acids and Glycerides by : A. Kuksis
Download or read book Fatty Acids and Glycerides written by A. Kuksis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-11-28 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The advances in lipid biochemistry over the past 25 to 30 years have been dramatic and exciting. The elucidation of the pathways of fatty acid biosynthesis and oxidation, the delineation of the biogenesis of cholesterol from small-molecular weight precursors, the structure proof of simple and complex lipids from plants, animals, and microorganisms, are excellent examples of the spectacular advances made during the golden era of lipid biochemistry. The multifaceted discoveries in these diverse areas of study could be attributed to development of highly sophisticated column chromatographic techniques for separation and purification of simple and complex lipids. The advent of thin-layer chromatography as well as gas liquid chromatography provided an explosive impetus to research developments in this field. Concomitant advances in mass spectrometry allowed an interface with gas-liquid chromatography which spawned even greater insight into the structure of lipids. These eventful days of lipid chemistry nearly 25 years ago led to a relatively quiescent period wherein scientists applied these newly available techniques to investigation of the behavior of isolated (lipid) enzyme systems and to unraveling the intricacies of the metabolic behavior of lipids in the intact cell or whole organisms. Then, in the early 1960s, a decided change in research emphasis developed with the advent of a simple, reproducible procedure for the isolation of cell membranes.
