Book Synopsis New Advances in Modal Synthesis of Large Structures: Non-linear Damped and Non-deterministic Cases by : Louis Jezequel
Download or read book New Advances in Modal Synthesis of Large Structures: Non-linear Damped and Non-deterministic Cases written by Louis Jezequel and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1997-01-01 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The modal analysis of the structures appears to be an essential tool to master their dynamic behaviour. Particularly, the modal synthesis methods combined with the updating technics of the Finite Element models lead to the definition of strategies peculiarly efficient. At present, several developments are being carried out in order to spread these procedures to the latest requirements in structural dynamics: Vibro-acoustic . behaviour; Stochastic approach; Non-linear analysis; Introduction of composite materials. The target of the MV2 International Conference was to take stock of the new methods suggested and to assess their effectiveness. The interest in this book is to gather original works that rely on high-level approaches although these works are clearly intended to industrual applications.

Book Synopsis Dynamics of Large Structures and Inverse Problems by : Abdelkhalak El Hami
Download or read book Dynamics of Large Structures and Inverse Problems written by Abdelkhalak El Hami and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-07-19 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with the various aspects of stochastic dynamics, the resolution of large mechanical systems, and inverse problems. It integrates the most recent ideas from research and industry in the field of stochastic dynamics and optimization in structural mechanics over 11 chapters. These chapters provide an update on the various tools for dealing with uncertainties, stochastic dynamics, reliability and optimization of systems. The optimization–reliability coupling in structures dynamics is approached in order to take into account the uncertainties in the modeling and the resolution of the problems encountered. Accompanied by detailed examples of uncertainties, optimization, reliability, and model reduction, this book presents the newest design tools. It is intended for students and engineers and is a valuable support for practicing engineers and teacher-researchers.

Book Synopsis Bifurcation and Chaos in Nonsmooth Mechanical Systems by : Jan Awrejcewicz
Download or read book Bifurcation and Chaos in Nonsmooth Mechanical Systems written by Jan Awrejcewicz and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the theoretical frame for studying lumped nonsmooth dynamical systems: the mathematical methods are recalled, and adapted numerical methods are introduced (differential inclusions, maximal monotone operators, Filippov theory, Aizerman theory, etc.). Tools available for the analysis of classical smooth nonlinear dynamics (stability analysis, the Melnikov method, bifurcation scenarios, numerical integrators, solvers, etc.) are extended to the nonsmooth frame. Many models and applications arising from mechanical engineering, electrical circuits, material behavior and civil engineering are investigated to illustrate theoretical and computational developments.
Book Synopsis Safety Evaluation Based on Identification Approaches Related to Time-Variant and Nonlinear Structures by : Hans G. Natke
Download or read book Safety Evaluation Based on Identification Approaches Related to Time-Variant and Nonlinear Structures written by Hans G. Natke and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Safety evaluation by definition involves many complex factors and thus covers a wide range of topics. In order to focus the content of the workshop the subject matter was specific to the state of the art and the recent developments in nonlinear and time-variant methods employing identification procedures. Participants in the workshop represented a wide range of expertise. They were se lected in order to cover the state of the art of knowledge in fault-detection and dam age assessment, system identification, signal processing, mathematical and physical modelling and applications of techniques such as fuzzy logic and neural networks. The emphasis was placed on the exploitation and understanding of nonlinearity arising from structural or material faults. Figure 1 indicates the range of topics covered in the workshop. Since no unique or general approach yet exists for treating nonlinearity in the field of safety evaluation, many of the topics presented were problem specific. In order to assist the reader in selecting the material of primary interest a matrix of the topics covered by each participant is shown in Table 1. This table relates the authors to the subject matter, providing a guide through the diverse range of topics presented at the workshop.
Book Synopsis Aristotle’s Modal Syllogistic by : Marko Malink
Download or read book Aristotle’s Modal Syllogistic written by Marko Malink and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 2013-11-01 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aristotle was the founder not only of logic but also of modal logic. In the Prior Analytics he developed a complex system of modal syllogistic which, while influential, has been disputed since antiquity—and is today widely regarded as incoherent. In this meticulously argued new study, Marko Malink presents a major reinterpretation of Aristotle’s modal syllogistic. Combining analytic rigor with keen sensitivity to historical context, he makes clear that the modal syllogistic forms a consistent, integrated system of logic, one that is closely related to other areas of Aristotle’s philosophy. Aristotle’s modal syllogistic differs significantly from modern modal logic. Malink considers the key to understanding the Aristotelian version to be the notion of predication discussed in the Topics—specifically, its theory of predicables (definition, genus, differentia, proprium, and accident) and the ten categories (substance, quantity, quality, and so on). The predicables introduce a distinction between essential and nonessential predication. In contrast, the categories distinguish between substantial and nonsubstantial predication. Malink builds on these insights in developing a semantics for Aristotle’s modal propositions, one that verifies the ancient philosopher’s claims of the validity and invalidity of modal inferences. Malink recognizes some limitations of this reconstruction, acknowledging that his proof of syllogistic consistency depends on introducing certain complexities that Aristotle could not have predicted. Nonetheless, Aristotle’s Modal Syllogistic brims with bold ideas, richly supported by close readings of the Greek texts, and offers a fresh perspective on the origins of modal logic.
