Book excerpt: La détermination univoque des compositions énantiomériques et des configurations absolues se révèle être une tâche d'importance primordiale. En effet, dans de très nombreux cas, les interactions spécifiques entre les récepteurs des systèmes vivants et les substrats considérés sont intimement liées à la chiralité de ceux-ci. Actuellement, la quasi-totalité des sélecteurs chromatographiques chiraux développés sont constitués d'une unique entité cyclodextrine dont la substitution varie selon les besoins. Nous nous sommes proposés de réaliser des composés macromoléculaires incorporant plusieurs unités oligosaccharides, reliées de façon covalente par un pont polyéther (linéaire ou cyclique). Ceci afin d'évaluer, par comparaison avec les cyclodextrines monomères analogues, l'effet coopératif des cyclodextrines d'une même entité moléculaire d'une part, et/ou d'une cyclodextrine et du pont polyéther associé d'autre part. Ce travail décrit la synthèse et la caractérisation (RMN, MS, DSC) d'une série de nouveaux sélecteurs chiraux ainsi que l'évaluation de leurs sélectivités lorsque employés en chromatographie gazeuse et en électrophorèse capillaire. La variation de la nature du pont ainsi que des substituants sur les cyclodextrines permet de moduler les propriétés physiques (polarité, viscosité, point de fusion, & et chromatographiques des composés cibles. La comparaison des valeurs de a pour les nouveaux sélecteurs et les cyclodextrines peralkylées analogues révèle des différences plus ou moins marquées de sélectivité, particulièrement entre colonnes pourvues ou non d'éthers couronne. Ceci étant l'indice d'une interférence du polyéther central dans le mécanisme de reconnaissance.
