Book excerpt: The twelfth entry in the shared-world fantasy series finds wrongs righted, debts paid, and the city swathed in a mysterious dust storm. With the completion of its new wall, Sanctuary seems peaceful and prosperous. The Beysib and Rankan invaders now favor diplomacy over military action. The wharves that once hosted only fishermen are now full of trade ships carrying merchandise to the city, and the streets, once full of warring factions, are calm. But soon warriors are preparing for battle as strong winds out of the desert bring swirling clouds of sand and dust, enveloping the city in chaos. It is the perfect time for thieves to strike . . . The original shared-world fantasy adventure series ends with this collection, featuring stories by some of fantasy’s best authors like Robert Lynn Asprin, Andrew Offutt, John DeCles, Duane McGowen, Diana L. Paxson, C. J. Cherryh, Robin W. Bailey, and Lynn Abbey.

Book excerpt: Koda Sesi knows not all that glitters in the dark Alaskan night is gold. In her world usually it's blood. She's part of a tight knit family that has been hunting supernatural beings since before the Gold Rush. Rumors are swirling around Broken Tusk Inn, her harborside bar, that an old God is going after miners who are alone at night. She's seen too much in her life to believe in gods but people have gone missing, their vehicles turning up shredded, accompanied by canine like footprints, and mangled wildlife. Koda's instincts tell her it's not the typical vampire or werewolf that is causing the chaos. She's concerned that her family's name won't be enough to keep them from being the next target. When Koda finally meets the foreman her eldest brother hired to run the family gold mine for the season, secrets from her past come creeping back. Secrets that may prove to be too much of a distraction and put her and her brothers in the line of danger from the creature stalking the mines.

Book excerpt: In one night, Ebony Lyre's life is turned upside-down, shaken up, and stomped on. It all started as a grad party-and a pretty tame one at that, all things considered. A sophomore herself, Ebony only tagged along for the ride with her older sister; for the first few hours, she was glad she did. And then...instant regret. Suddenly, Ebony is thrust from college life into a world of monster hunters who have dedicated their lives to quietly killing the things that go bump in the night. But even though they've sworn to protect humanity, Ebony's not sure if she wants to trust these so-called heroes-especially the brooding Nathan Helsing, who insists the life of a monster hunter isn't for him. Still, it isn't as if she has much of a choice, because these hunters aren't tracking down werewolves with silver bullets or exorcising ghosts from haunted houses just now-they're fixed on the intrusive Skin Stealers, a parasitic race that will do anything to live another day. And apparently, Ebony has something they want...

Book Synopsis 'History and Philosophy of Lingayat Religion' by : Linga Raju
Download or read book 'History and Philosophy of Lingayat Religion' written by Linga Raju and published by . This book was released on 2015-11-11 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book on which this commentary is written is titled 'History and Philosophy of Liṅgᾱyat Religion' by M. R. Sakhare, M. A., T. D. (Cantab), published by the Karnatak University, Dharwad, India, in the year 1978. During the process of continued study and understanding of the available sacred literature, and writing ten books in the past, it was evident to me that I had referred to a book by Professor M. R. Sakhare called 'History and Philosophy of Liṅgᾱyat Religion' published by Karnatak University, Dharwad, India. It appears that this scholarly work, in English, of Professor Sakhare was frequently referred to in the past by the students of Philosophy and Religion in order to seek further insight into the Religious Philosophy of Liṅgᾱyatas who are also known as Vīraśaivas. Although the book had been regarded as one of the authentic works in English on this subject, some questions have been raised as to its usefulness as a reference book in the present day circumstances. With this in mind, the book was reviewed, and then, as it seemed appropriate to report the findings, this commentary has been submitted to the interested and concerned readers. This is a critical review.
