Achievement gaps in reading and math also narrowed at grades 4 and 8 for most subgroups according to both percentages proficient and average (mean) scores. Comparable data were available for 2006-2009 at grades 4 and 8. Trends could not be determined for grade 11 because New York administers end-of-course exams that students take at different points in high school, depending on when they have completed the appropriate courses.
