Download or read book Fundamentals of Digital Logic with Verilog Design written by Stephen Brown and published by McGraw-Hill Science/Engineering/Math. This book was released on 2007-05-14 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Digital Logic With Verilog Design teaches the basic design techniques for logic circuits. It emphasizes the synthesis of circuits and explains how circuits are implemented in real chips. Fundamental concepts are illustrated by using small examples. Use of CAD software is well integrated into the book. A CD-ROM that contains Altera's Quartus CAD software comes free with every copy of the text. The CAD software provides automatic mapping of a design written in Verilog into Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and Complex Programmable Logic Devices (CPLDs). Students will be able to try, firsthand, the book's Verilog examples (over 140) and homework problems. Engineers use Quartus CAD for designing, simulating, testing and implementing logic circuits. The version included with this text supports all major features of the commercial product and comes with a compiler for the IEEE standard Verilog language. Students will be able to: enter a design into the CAD system compile the design into a selected device simulate the functionality and timing of the resulting circuit implement the designs in actual devices (using the school's laboratory facilities) Verilog is a complex language, so it is introduced gradually in the book. Each Verilog feature is presented as it becomes pertinent for the circuits being discussed. To teach the student to use the Quartus CAD, the book includes three tutorials.

Book excerpt: Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) are devices that provide a fast, low-cost way for embedded system designers to customize products and deliver new versions with upgraded features, because they can handle very complicated functions, and be reconfigured an infinite number of times. In addition to introducing the various architectural features available in the latest generation of FPGAs, The Design Warrior's Guide to FPGAs also covers different design tools and flows. This book covers information ranging from schematic-driven entry, through traditional HDL/RTL-based simulation and logic synthesis, all the way up to the current state-of-the-art in pure C/C++ design capture and synthesis technology. Also discussed are specialist areas such as mixed hardward/software and DSP-based design flows, along with innovative new devices such as field programmable node arrays (FPNAs). Clive "Max" Maxfield is a bestselling author and engineer with a large following in the electronic design automation (EDA)and embedded systems industry. In this comprehensive book, he covers all the issues of interest to designers working with, or contemplating a move to, FPGAs in their product designs. While other books cover fragments of FPGA technology or applications this is the first to focus exclusively and comprehensively on FPGA use for embedded systems. - First book to focus exclusively and comprehensively on FPGA use in embedded designs - World-renowned best-selling author - Will help engineers get familiar and succeed with this new technology by providing much-needed advice on choosing the right FPGA for any design project

Book Synopsis The Designer’s Guide to Verilog-AMS by : Ken Kundert
Download or read book The Designer’s Guide to Verilog-AMS written by Ken Kundert and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-19 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Verilog Hardware Description Language (Verilog-HDL) has long been the most popular language for describing complex digital hardware. It started life as a prop- etary language but was donated by Cadence Design Systems to the design community to serve as the basis of an open standard. That standard was formalized in 1995 by the IEEE in standard 1364-1995. About that same time a group named Analog Verilog International formed with the intent of proposing extensions to Verilog to support analog and mixed-signal simulation. The first fruits of the labor of that group became available in 1996 when the language definition of Verilog-A was released. Verilog-A was not intended to work directly with Verilog-HDL. Rather it was a language with Similar syntax and related semantics that was intended to model analog systems and be compatible with SPICE-class circuit simulation engines. The first implementation of Verilog-A soon followed: a version from Cadence that ran on their Spectre circuit simulator. As more implementations of Verilog-A became available, the group defining the a- log and mixed-signal extensions to Verilog continued their work, releasing the defi- tion of Verilog-AMS in 2000. Verilog-AMS combines both Verilog-HDL and Verilog-A, and adds additional mixed-signal constructs, providing a hardware description language suitable for analog, digital, and mixed-signal systems. Again, Cadence was first to release an implementation of this new language, in a product named AMS Designer that combines their Verilog and Spectre simulation engines.

Book Synopsis The Mechatronics Handbook - 2 Volume Set by : Robert H. Bishop
Download or read book The Mechatronics Handbook - 2 Volume Set written by Robert H. Bishop and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 1392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first comprehensive reference on mechatronics, The Mechatronics Handbook was quickly embraced as the gold standard in the field. From washing machines, to coffeemakers, to cell phones, to the ubiquitous PC in almost every household, what, these days, doesn’t take advantage of mechatronics in its design and function? In the scant five years since the initial publication of the handbook, the latest generation of smart products has made this even more obvious. Too much material to cover in a single volume Originally a single-volume reference, the handbook has grown along with the field. The need for easy access to new material on rapid changes in technology, especially in computers and software, has made the single volume format unwieldy. The second edition is offered as two easily digestible books, making the material not only more accessible, but also more focused. Completely revised and updated, Robert Bishop’s seminal work is still the most exhaustive, state-of-the-art treatment of the field available.
