Book excerpt: Advances in Polarography, Volume 1 is a collection of papers presented at the Second International Congress of Polarography held at Cambridge in 1959 in honor of the 70th birthday of Professor Heyrovsky. This book is composed of 26 chapters and begins with discussions of the principles, mode of operation, and application of several polarographic techniques, including oscillographic, derivative, continuous, and differential cathode-ray polarography. The succeeding section discusses the theoretical, kinetic, and fundamental aspects of these techniques. The remaining sections are devoted to the analytical, industrial, biological, and medical applications of polarography.

This book was released on 2013-03-12 with total page 631 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is now time for a comprehensive treatise to look at the whole field of electrochemistry. The present treatise was conceived in 1974, and the earliest invitations to authors for contributions were made in 1975. The completion of the early volumes has been delayed by various factors. There has been no attempt to make each article emphasize the most recent situation at the expense of an overall statement of the modern view. This treatise is not a collection of articles from Recent Advances in Electrochemistry or Modern Aspects of Electrochemistry. It is an attempt at making a mature statement about the present position in the vast area of what is best looked at as a new interdisciplinary field. Texas A & M University J. O'M. Bockris University of Ottawa B. E. Conway Case Western Reserve University Ernest Yeager Texas A & M University Ralph E. White Preface to Volume 8 Experimental methods in electrochemistry are becoming more diverse. This volume describes many of the new techniques that are being used as well as some of the well-established techniques. It begins with two chapters (1 and 2) on electronic instrumentation and methods for utilization of microcomputers for experimental data acquisition and reduction. Next, two chapters (3 and 4) on classical methods of electrochemical analysis are presented: ion selective electrodes and polarography.
Book Synopsis Principles of Polarography by : Jaroslav Heyrovský
Download or read book Principles of Polarography written by Jaroslav Heyrovský and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-11 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Principles of Polarography is a revised and extended version of an original Czech edition that appeared in 1962 at the Publishing House of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in Prague. Based on a one-term course of lectures for third-year students of chemistry at the Charles University it brings the fundamental results of more than forty years' research in the field of polarography. The book contains 22 chapters and opens with a discussion of the principles of polarography. This is followed by separate chapters on polarizable electrodes used in polarography; charging current; influence of the resistance of the electrolyte on polarographic curves; migration and diffusion-controlled currents; and equation of a reversible polarographic wave. Subsequent chapters deal with reversible processes controlled by diffusion of complex ions; reversible reduction of organic substances; deposition of mercury ions; irreversible electrode processes; applications of limiting currents; polarographic curves for the formation of semiquinones and dimers; and catalytic hydrogen currents.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The object of "Residue Reviews" is to provide concise, critical reviews of timely advances, philosophy, and significant areas of accomplished or needed endeavor in the total field of residues of pesticide and certain other chemicals in foods, feeds, and in transformed food products. During the 144th National Meetings of the American Chemical Society in Los Angeles, California the Pesticides Subdivision of the A. C. S. Division of Agricultural and Food Chemistry on April 1, 1963 sponsored a symposium "Instrumen tation for the Detection and Determination of Pesticides and Their Residues in Foods". With special permission from R. N. HADER and his associates in the American Chemical Society, that symposium is reproduced in this volume of "Residue Reviews" because of its timeliness and significance to pesticide residue analysts everywhere. Without exception the symposium authors accepted my invitation to utilize "Residue Reviews" as their publication medium, and their coopera tion in the extra chore of providing manuscripts conforming to the style requirements of "Residue Reviews" is gratefully acknowledged. Presiding over the two sessions of the symposium were CHARLES L. DUNN and MILTON S. SCHECHTER, whose introductory remarks at that time comprise the foreword to this volume; their enthusiastic assistance both in organizing the symposium and in achieving this final product is warmly appreciated. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analytical Methods for Pesticides, Plant Growth Regulators, and Food Additives, Volume V: Additional Principles and Methods of Analysis covers the major advances in the analytical techniques used for the qualitative and quantitative determinations of minute amounts of pesticide and plant growth regulator residues in foods and crops. The book discusses developments in analytical methods (i.e. the polarographic technique, thin-layer chromatography) and their general applications; the analytical aspects of pesticide residue analyses in the environment; and specific analytical methods for formulation and residue analyses of insecticides, fungicides, herbicides and plant growth regulators. Agriculturists, agricultural engineers, toxicologists, and people involved in the study of pesticides and biochemicals will find the book invaluable.
