This book was released on 2018-09-27 with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The K0s is the neutral strange particle due to the presence of strange quark content. These strange particles are generally produced in strong interaction and decay through weak interaction. Using the DPMJET hadron production model, p+p interactions was simulated using +85GeV/c beam energy through the Time Projection Chamber. This K0s particles were reconstructed using the V0-Finder algorithm and the efficiency of this algorithm was 40%. All the correction/Efficiencies were determined using the DPMJET model. In the present work, K0s production cross-section in bins of pt2 using Proton-Proton interactions at 85 GeV/c energy using DPMJET model was studied. This analysis and results will be used for data analysis at MIPP experiment at Fermilab.

Book Synopsis Particles and Fundamental Interactions: Supplements, Problems and Solutions by : Sylvie Braibant
Download or read book Particles and Fundamental Interactions: Supplements, Problems and Solutions written by Sylvie Braibant and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-04-17 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is an exercises and solutions manual that complements the book "Particles and Fundamental Interactions" by Sylvie Braibant, Giorgio Giacomelli, and Maurizio Spurio. It aims to give additional intellectual stimulation for students in experimental particle physics. It will be a helpful companion in the preparation of a written examination, but also it provides a means to gaining a deeper understanding of high energy physics. The problems proposed are sometimes true and important research questions, which are described and solved in a step-by-step manner. In addition to the problems and solutions, this book offers fifteen Supplements that give further insight into topical subjects related to particle accelerators, signal and data acquisition systems and computational methods to treat them.

Download or read book Particles and Fundamental Interactions written by Sylvie Braibant and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-11-16 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book provides theoretical and phenomenological insights on the structure of matter, presenting concepts and features of elementary particle physics and fundamental aspects of nuclear physics. Starting with the basics (nomenclature, classification, acceleration techniques, detection of elementary particles), the properties of fundamental interactions (electromagnetic, weak and strong) are introduced with a mathematical formalism suited to undergraduate students. Some experimental results (the discovery of neutral currents and of the W± and Z0 bosons; the quark structure observed using deep inelastic scattering experiments) show the necessity of an evolution of the formalism. This motivates a more detailed description of the weak and strong interactions, of the Standard Model of the microcosm with its experimental tests, and of the Higgs mechanism. The open problems in the Standard Model of the microcosm and macrocosm are presented at the end of the book.

Download or read book The Charm of Strange Quarks written by R. Michael Barnett and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-19 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A primer on the evolution of particle physics and the search for the fundamental building blocks of matter, this book presents the full current body of understanding of particle physics in a way that is accessible to readers with some basic principles of physics. This concise book tells the fascinating story of how 20th century physicists revealed layer upon layer of structure within the atom to reach the basic particles of matter, and culminates in descriptions of current theories which form the Standard Model and the discovery of the top quark. It contains many illustrations and photographs, including the famous "Particle Chart", and integrates the stories of the individual scientists throughout. The book is a collaboration among eminent physicists at LBL, CERN and high school teachers to develop a novel book for teaching particle physics to students. It can thus be used as a supplement for courses in advanced high school and physics courses.
