Book Synopsis Imprisoned with ISIS by : Petr Jasek
Download or read book Imprisoned with ISIS written by Petr Jasek and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2020-06-02 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It Was Supposed to be a Four-Day Visit It turned into a 445-day imprisonment. And if God had not intervened, he would have been there for the rest of his life. In December 2015, Petr Jasek traveled to Khartoum, Sudan, to evaluate how The Voice of the Martyrs—a ministry he had served with since 2002—could help and encourage persecuted Sudanese Christians. Pleased with his meetings with local pastors and other Christians, Petr checked in for his flight home to the Czech Republic. But before he could board the plane, he was summoned for questioning by Sudanese security agents. They wanted to know more about his activities in the country—activities that, if disclosed, could endanger the Christians with whom he had met. Petr soon realized he was facing much more than a routine security screening. The guards took his computer, phone, and camera before quickly discovering his second passport. Later, his interrogators showed him photos of each meeting he had arranged during his four days in Sudan; he had been under surveillance from the moment he arrived. Taken into custody, Petr knew he would not be returning to his family anytime soon. Charged with espionage, waging war against the state, and undermining the constitution, he was locked up with ISIS fighters, convicted after a lengthy trial, and sentenced to life in prison. Now Petr shares the harrowing but inspiring story of how God sustained his strength and courage while giving him a new purpose during his ordeal—and then opened the prison doors and set him free.

Book Synopsis Hope Beyond Bars by : Jedidiah Duaya
Download or read book Hope Beyond Bars written by Jedidiah Duaya and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2018-06-23 with total page 41 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Being behind bars doesnt make you, as an inmate, less of a human being. Therefore, do not identify yourself with your temporary situation. But since you are behind bars, you need to take responsibility. And while taking responsibility, you need to forgive yourself and forgive those who might have done you wrong. And once you forgive, then you need to live life in jail, in prison, or under house arrest by following rules and demonstrating good behavior to help make your sentence easier and maybe shorter. And until you get free, do not waste your time in a cell doing nothing of value; instead, put your potential, abilities, and gifts to use. And lastly, mentally prepare yourself to live life beyond bars by applying every single lesson learned from the cell. The church and society need to address the issue of ex-inmates reentry as partners and complement each other in facing this issue. The society and the church need to understand that just because these individuals are behind bars, that doesnt make them any less human than everybody else. They have a right to live, a right to be forgiven, and a right to be accepted back into society. These individuals are called inmates while serving time, but once they have paitd their dues and are set free, that name changes to ex-inmates and should eventually switch to citizens. Where society falls short, the church needs to pick up the slack and serve these citizens. And where the church falls short, society needs to step in and help these citizens. We cannot afford to let these ex-inmates live in a life cycle where they go in and out of jail, prison, and house arrest. We have to prove the statistics wrong. Society can provide programs to help these citizens reintegrate much more smoothly. The church can finally become what it was intended to be and provide a safe environment in which these restored citizens will live a life worthy of being called citizens and not return to old behavior and a life back behind bars.
Book Synopsis The Peace of Love by : Shirley Ann Williams
Download or read book The Peace of Love written by Shirley Ann Williams and published by Inspiring Voices. This book was released on 2014-12-23 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Darren had found refuge in his Fathers arms, outstretched and waiting for the wayward child to come home. Home to Him. This cell was not a home that Darren, aka Fester, had envisioned as a place to live out his life. Maybe, for his father, but never for him. The choice was initiated when he crossed that line between obeying the law and defying it. Prison now was not his temporary home, but the place he would eat, sleep, and work for the rest of his life. But in reality, Darren Moore had already lived his life in prison, barred in by his actions long before setting foot in this institution. The prison he lived in for most of his life was the one he constructed himself. Picking up the journal Gabe had left behind, he flipped hastily through the pages. Though he tried to talk to God, it was difficult never having done so before. Darren had uttered His name only in curses. This way of living was strange to him, and Nathan had explained that it would be. There would be days hed feel like a failure; and in such times, God would be there waiting patiently. Father God, please help me. As soon as he cried his utterance, a whisper sounded. Looking about his cell, he saw no one. Was God really listening? Darren had heard whispers similar to these at the trial. With tear-filled eyes, he glanced down and began to read. To Fester Moore

When Ryan survived, they both realized that they still had a future together. But the near loss changed the way they saw all that would lie ahead. They would live and love fiercely, fighting for each other and for a Christ-centered marriage, every step of the way. Fierce Marriage is their story, but more than that, it is a call for married couples to put God first in their relationship, to measure everything they do and say to each other against what Christ did for them, and to see marriage not just as a relationship they should try to keep healthy but also as one worth fighting for in every situation. With the gospel as their foundation, Ryan and Selena offer hope and practical help for common struggles in marriage, including communication problems, sexual frustration, financial stress, family tension, screen-time disconnection, and unrealistic expectations.
