Book Synopsis Gli stranieri nel diritto pubblico italiano by : Arianna Pitino
Download or read book Gli stranieri nel diritto pubblico italiano written by Arianna Pitino and published by G Giappichelli Editore. This book was released on 2018-04-05 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Migrants, Refugees and Asylum Seekers’ Integration in European Labour Markets by : Veronica Federico
Download or read book Migrants, Refugees and Asylum Seekers’ Integration in European Labour Markets written by Veronica Federico and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-21 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book discusses how, and to what extent, the legal and institutional regimes and the socio-cultural environments of a range of European countries (the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Italy, Switzerland and the UK), in the framework of EU laws and policies, have a beneficial or negative impact on the effective capacity of these countries to integrate migrants, refugees and asylum seekers into their labour markets. The analysis builds on the understanding of socio-cultural, institutional and legal factors as “barriers” or “enablers”; elements that may facilitate or obstruct the integration processes. The book examines the two dimensions of integration being access to the labour market (which, translated into a rights language means the right to work) with its corollaries (recognition of qualifications, vocational training, etc.), and non-discriminatory working conditions (which, translated into a rights language means right to both formal and substantial equality) and its corollaries of benefits and duties deriving from joining the labour market. It thereby offers a novel approach to labour market integration and migration/asylum issues given its focus on legal aspects, which includes most recent policy changes and legal decisions (including litigation cases). The robust, evidence-based and comparative research illustrated in the book provides academics and students, but also practitioners and policy makers, with up to date knowledge that will likely impact positively on policy changes needed to better address integration conundrums.

Book Synopsis European Democratic Institutions and Administrations by : Francesco Merloni
Download or read book European Democratic Institutions and Administrations written by Francesco Merloni and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the results of extensive international comparative research into the effects of the economic and financial crisis on democratic institutions and social cohesion policies. The collected studies describe and analyse the measures (often referred to as "reforms") adopted to counter the crisis and the effects of these measures. It investigates three areas: the impact on the functioning of institutions, with respect to the relationship between representative institutions and governments, and the organisational structure of administrations at national and local levels; the impact that the austerity policies on public spending have on social rights; and the impact on traditional instruments of public action (administrative simplification, public services delivering, the use of common assets). The general findings highlight the effect of reducing the administrative and government capacity of the democratic institutions: the public sector, rather than being innovative and made more effective, declines, offering increasingly poor public services and making bad decisions, fuelling substantive or formal privatisation solutions, which in turn cause further weakening.

Book excerpt: Authors Costa and Zolo share the conviction that a proper understanding of the rule of law today requires reference to a global problematic horizon. The present book is a contribution to the clarification of operating procedures used by the current legislation of the European Union for the protection of the right to family unity, and in particular the right to family reunification of individuals. From a formal point of view the right to family reunification, enjoys international and national protection. This book examines the protection of family life and family reunification within the framework of international conventions on human rights, family reunification and the protection of family life in the area of justice, the rights of family members of European citizens in the EU legislation and the case law; the rules set by the Directives 2004/38/EC and 2003/86/EC, the relationship between EU legislation on family reunification and the respect of national rules governing the entry and residence of migrants. Book Synopsis The Universalism of Human Rights by : Rainer Arnold
Download or read book The Universalism of Human Rights written by Rainer Arnold and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-08-21 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is there universalism of human rights? If so, what are its scope and limits? This book is a doctrinal attempt to define universalism of human rights, as well as its scope and limits. The book presents tests of universalism on international, regional and national constitutional levels. It is maintained that universalism of human rights is both a ‘concept’ and a ‘normative reality’. The normative character of human rights is scrutinized through the study of international and regional agreements as well as national constitutions. As a consequence, limitations of normativity are identified, usually on the international level, and take the form of exceptions, reservations, and interpretations. The book is based on the General and National Reports which were originally presented at the 18th International Congress of the International Academy of Comparative Law in Washington D.C. 2010.
