Book excerpt: They’re out there...in a league of their own! We’ve all seen them with their bizarre driving techniques and vehicles that are more suited for the junkyard than the road. Get ready for some enjoyable reading like “The Umbrella Policy” or “The Many Uses of Duct Tape,” as observed by the author, Diana Pengitore. This book will have you laughing out loud over things that you never thought were possible. A must-have for anyone who shares the road. “This is a delightful journey over America’s roadways that encompasses many of the things we encounter on the highways that make us shake our heads in disbelief. Dr. Pengitore presents these in a humorous fashion and peppers them with her whimsical comments. A page turner that will leave you howling...and, if it so happens that you see yourself in this book...well, FIX IT!” -Carl F., VA “This book is not only a must-read for those of us who drive but also for those who are about to and for some who probably shouldn’t (if you’re anecdotally described in here, that’s you).” -Jan D., NJ “Well, after thirty-eight years of driving, the author surely has gathered a lot of experience on this subject. I will agree that there is a big difference between driving in Germany and in the USA. The German’s dearest child is the car, which is taken care of very well and is always kept clean and in good repair. And, the German TÜV watches with eagle eyes just to make sure that the technical condition of each car is maintained through thorough biennial inspections. If there is a major technical problem, the car will not pass inspection and will not be allowed back on the road. Then there is law enforcement, who really takes care of the safety on the street. After all, Germany is the country of law and order! Then you go to the land of the free, the United States of America. Diana Pengitore’s book accurately describes everyday traffic there. The book is easy to understand, and the author presents her experiences in a very humorous manner. You surely will have some belly laughs while reading.” -W. Fries, Germany

Book excerpt: A leading political analyst navigates an unfamiliar terrain of what it means to be a conservative in the Trump Era in Still Right. Since 2016, “conservative” has come to mean “supportive of the policies of the Trump Administration": building his "wall," enacting ruinous tariffs and limiting trade, alienating our allies and kowtowing to dictators, spending wildly, and generally doing the very opposite of what conservatism actually calls for. As a result, millions of Americans are struggling to reconcile their lifelong political identities with what their traditional political party now stands for. Rick Tyler, MSNBC's leading conservative analyst, shows they are still the ones in the right by making the case for real conservatism, one grounded in principles of liberty, the history of freedom, and simple reason. He explains why it's necessary to have a global view of the economy—and how that includes immigration. He demonstrates the need for protecting our nation with a strong military as well as protecting the planet itself. He discusses what conservatism really asks when it comes to children, healthcare, taxes and elections. In the end he reclaims conservatism for conservatives—and proves that it's the best way forward for America.

Book excerpt: Here is an introduction to the intellectual challenges presented by law in the western secular tradition. Treating not just British law, but the whole western tradition of law, Professor Honore guides the reader through eleven topics which straddle various branches of the law, including constitutional and criminal law, property, and contracts. He also explores moral and historical aspects of the law, including a discussion of justice and the difference between civil and common law systems. The law, Honore argues, is mainly concerned with the question of obedience to authority, and establishing the situations in which obedience is required and those in which it may be waived ought to be the central concern of all legal theorists.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corruption in the Division of Corrections captures the life of a female correctional officer II who was victimized inside the corrupt system of DPSCS from 2015 to 2019. It tells of the magnitude of inhumane treatment she endured: the false medical report that was made against her by the state medical directors; intentionally denying of job opportunities; interference with her accumulative leave hours, paychecks, pay increase; illegal termination from the state service. She talks of the frame-up she experienced and witnessing some of the treatment made to other correctional officers. The book tells of the corrupt system of DPSCS that everybody knows but nobody talks about, the impact the corrupt system has created inside the correctional facilities alongside the sexual exploitation and trading sex for positions and protections. She also talks about the medical condition she suffered as a result of a long-term internalized trauma, of depressed mood and adjustment disorder caused by work-related stress. Lastly, she tells of her right to receive therapeutic treatment requested by the psychologist, but again, the DPSCS intentionally deprived her of it. Instead, they illegally terminated her and left her with nothing to fall back on while she is recovering.
