Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you confused, afraid or suffering? Do you feel burdened by guilt or shame over past or present failures? Do you struggle with painful life circumstances that you feel powerless to control? Do you wonder where God is and why He doesn't seem to help? Do you feel confused about the promise of abundant life and wonder why you're missing out? You are not alone. I began life with many hopes and dreams, yet over time I felt beaten and battered by life circumstances or my poor choices. Confused and overwhelmed, I forced myself to conform my outside to what was expected of me by trying to achieve greater accomplishments, acquire more things and perfect my image. Yet inside, despite all this effort, I was filled with sadness, emptiness, insecurity and loneliness. So began my quest to find hope and peace in my life. Trusting in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, studying the Bible, participating in 12 Step recovery programs and learning to listen and respond to the loving wisdom of the Holy Spirit caused significant changes in my life. I have personally experienced God's healing from shame and guilt of my past and freedom from the need for approval from others. Now that I live with a desperate dependence on God alone, I have peace I never had before. The journey was not easy. I encountered, and continue to encounter, many obstacles. But daily God convinces me that He is my only hope. That is why I'm inviting you to join me and enter into a similar transformational, discipleship journey with God. On this journey we will not just be students who learn more information, but disciples who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, learn the Truth, the Way and the Life. On the journey we will have our thinking challenged, our understanding expanded, our hearts opened and our wounds healed. We will become participants, not spectators, in God's plan and purpose. My prayer for you is that along the way, God will help you recover the truth of who you really are and who He is. I pray also that you will grow in your trust of Him as you come to know His goodness and unfailing love for you. As we take this journey together, I pray you will mysteriously and miraculously experience the healing power of God in your life. I pray you will enter into a love relationship with Him that is more amazing than you ever imagined or hoped for as He redeems, heals and restores you to your true identity and inheritance as His child living in His Kingdom of Grace.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who Are We to Judge? We have met the Pharisees, and they are...us. That's because we are all slaves to self-righteousness and judgmentalism. It's built into human nature. We set "the standard"--the list of do's and don'ts--to which others must adhere. Then we associate this predetermined behavior with righteousness and declare, "A 'Christian' wouldn't do that." In this book, John Fischer points out that Jesus defined the truth in such a way as to leave no one righteous--not one. We cannot be made right before God by being "better" than anyone else. Instead, by recognizing and laying aside the Pharisee in all of us, we can embrace the grace, gratitude, and joy of the spirit-filled life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus Christ came into this world to bring Gods influence into mans situations and circumstances, so that man may regain his God-given ability (dominion) which was once lost in the Garden of Eden. I believe the letter g in the word grace stands for God. When you remove that letter g then what you will have is race. Running the race of life without God can be frustrating; it is a life of hardship. Jesus therefore came to pave way for man to combine divinity with humanity in order to conquer satan and the world system. We live under grace dispensation, but not all Christians enjoy the grace of God. This book therefore teaches us the basic steps, attitudes, characters and decisions we must take in order to bring to manifestation the grace of God that is already placed upon our lives through redemption. The word of God says; Arise, shine, for thy light is come (Isaiah 60:1). The light is there, but it will not shine without an input from you, if the light must shine, then you must arise. In the same vein, grace to become all that God programmed you to become in life is upon your life, but there are some practical steps you will need to take that will automatically set grace at work in your life.

Book excerpt: Many Christians live in the misery of bitterness, unforgiveness, and trauma caused by spouses, parents, grandparents, or others who have sinned against them. Although the pain can seem unending, there is hope for those who seek healing grace to cover the sins of those who have wronged them. Dr. H. Norman Wright and marriage and family therapist Larry Renetzky give readers specific practical steps to release God's grace to forgive and to lay the foundation for building bridges of reconciliation. Some who read Healing Grace for Hurting People will relate to the stories of those needing healing grace, such as overachieving Mark who could not give his family love and intimacy, which he never received while growing up. Find out what happened to Mark and his family when Mark learned about the secret of the universe. God's grace saves us and sustains us. And He expects us to pass it on in our relationships. Learn how God's reconciling grace and power can resolve conflicts, revitalize marriages heading for divorce, and restore broken relationships in families, extended families, and the broader community.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of a 2018 Catholic Press Association Award: Sacraments. (Second Place). In the first book to directly integrate the Twelve Steps with the practice of Catholicism, Scott Weeman, founder and director of Catholic in Recovery, pairs his personal story with compassionate straight talk to show Catholics how to bridge the commonly felt gap between the Higher Power of twelve-step programs and the merciful God that he rediscovered in the heart of the sacraments. Weeman entered sobriety from alcohol and drugs on October 10, 2011, and he's made it his full-time ministry to help others who struggle with various types of addiction to find spiritual wholeness through Catholic in Recovery, an organization he founded and directs. In The Twelve Steps and the Sacraments, Weeman candidly tackles the struggle he and other addicts have with getting to know intimately the unnamed Higher Power of recovery. He shares stories of his compulsion to find a personal relationship with God and how his tentative steps back to the Catholic Church opened new doors of healing and brought him surprising joy as he came to know Christ in the sacraments. Catholics in recovery and those moving toward it, as well as the people who love them will recognize Weeman's story and his spiritual struggle to personally encounter God. He tells us how: Baptism helps you admit powerlessness over an unmanageable problem, face your desperate need for God, and choose to believe in and submit to God’s mercy. Reconciliation affirms and strengthens the hard work of examining your life, admitting wrongs, and making amends. The Eucharist provides ongoing sustenance and draws you to the healing power of Christ. The graces of Confirmation strengthen each person to keep moving forward and to share the good news of recovery and new life in Christ. Weeman's words are boldly challenging and brimming with compassion and through them you will discover inspiration, hope, sage advice, and refreshingly practical help.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We all face stress and tension in our daily lives. We might even wonder why our God of abundant goodness doesn’t remove the everyday struggles we face. Jesus’ interactions with Martha and Mary in the Gospel provide us the key to understanding how God shows us his love by allowing tensions in our lives. As we follow the sisters’ transformative journeys through their own struggles, reflecting on what transpires between Scripture verses, we see their initial tension become the catalyst that drives both Mary and Martha to the feet of Jesus — the place where all discover peace. Grace in Tension explores the areas where stress arises in our own lives. Each chapter ends with a thought-provoking prayer to inspire us to go to God with our problems, followed by questions for reflection to help us see all the ways he’s working for our good. God doesn’t create any of it, but he does show up amid life’s difficulties, ready to lead us through. No matter how big or small our struggle, when we seek him out, he reveals what we need to do to resolve our tension, transforming it into grace. Weaving together Scripture, personal stories, and the words of the classic hymn "How Firm a Foundation," David Powlison brings an experienced counselor's touch to exploring how God enters into our sufferings, helping us see God working in our own particular struggles—and discover how God's grace goes deeper than we could ever imagine.
