Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Participating in an English camp is always exciting. Many people attend an English camp in order to raise the awareness of learning English in short and simple way. Also, having an English camp is a good way to improve the skills to learn English. Being a part of English camp greatly helps our development. This camp is an effective way for students to experience new activities, creates distinctive character, and most importantly has fun activities. Some institutions or communities found it difficult to decide what materials fit with the needs to learn English in a camp. They just directly find information from invaluable sources and are passed from one generation to the next. This can be a problematic that the materials may not be suitable enough for the future generation. What is incredibly important from this book is you will find reliable sources for English camp activities. This will cover the participants’ need to improve their English skills in a very short time in a camp. Hopefully, this book can meet the need for community to apply. In this book, you will find some special materials to explore and present to your participants. At the beginning, the materials include some issues on the first thing to learn about English, which is critical to get to the next challenging materials.

Book excerpt: This Festschrift has been put together on the occasion of Franz Baader's 60th birthday to celebrate his fundamental and highly influential scientific contributions. The 30 papers in this volume cover several scientific areas that Franz Baader has been working on during the last three decades, including description logics, term rewriting, and the combination of decision procedures. We hope that readers will enjoy the articles gathered in Franz's honour and appreciate the breadth and depth of his favourite areas of computer science.

Book excerpt: This volume develops a unifying approach to population studies, emphasising the interplay between modelling and experimentation. Throughout, mathematicians and biologists are provided with a framework within which population dynamics can be fully explored and understood. Aspects of population dynamics covered include birth-death and logistic processes, competition and predator-prey relationships, chaos, reaction time-delays, fluctuating environments, spatial systems, velocities of spread, epidemics, and spatial branching structures. Both deterministic and stochastic models are considered. Whilst the more theoretically orientated sections will appeal to mathematical biologists, the material is presented so that readers with little mathematical expertise can bypass these without losing the main flow of the text.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optimization is the process by which the optimal solution to a problem, or optimum, is produced. The word optimum has come from the Latin word optimus, meaning best. And since the beginning of his existence Man has strived for that which is best. There has been a host of contributions, from Archimedes to the present day, scattered across many disciplines. Many of the earlier ideas, although interesting from a theoretical point of view, were originally of little practical use, as they involved a daunting amount of com putational effort. Now modern computers perform calculations, whose time was once estimated in man-years, in the figurative blink of an eye. Thus it has been worthwhile to resurrect many of these earlier methods. The advent of the computer has helped bring about the unification of optimization theory into a rapidly growing branch of applied mathematics. The major objective of this book is to provide an introduction to the main optimization tech niques which are at present in use. It has been written for final year undergrad uates or first year graduates studying mathematics, engineering, business, or the physical or social sciences. The book does not assume much mathemati cal knowledge. It has an appendix containing the necessary linear algebra and basic calculus, making it virtually self-contained. This text evolved out of the experience of teaching the material to finishing undergraduates and beginning graduates.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Introduction to Optimization Techniques introduces the basic ideas and techniques of optimization. Optimization is a precise procedure using design constraints and criteria to enable the planner to find the optimal solution. Optimization techniques have been applied in numerous fields to deal with different practical problems. This book is designed to give the reader a sense of the challenge of analyzing a given situation and formulating a model for it while explaining the assumptions and inner structure of the methods discussed as fully as possible. It includes real-world examples and applications making the book accessible to a broader readership. Features Each chapter begins with the Learning Outcomes (LO) section, which highlights the critical points of that chapter. All learning outcomes, solved examples and questions are mapped to six Bloom Taxonomy levels (BT Level). Book offers fundamental concepts of optimization without becoming too complicated. A wide range of solved examples are presented in each section after the theoretical discussion to clarify the concept of that section. A separate chapter on the application of spreadsheets to solve different optimization techniques. At the end of each chapter, a summary reinforces key ideas and helps readers recall the concepts discussed. The wide and emerging uses of optimization techniques make it essential for students and professionals. Optimization techniques have been applied in numerous fields to deal with different practical problems. This book serves as a textbook for UG and PG students of science, engineering, and management programs. It will be equally useful for Professionals, Consultants, and Managers.

Book excerpt: Sergei Kuznetsov is one of the top experts on measure valued branching processes (also known as “superprocesses”) and their connection to nonlinear partial differential operators. His research interests range from stochastic processes and partial differential equations to mathematical statistics, time series analysis and statistical software; he has over 90 papers published in international research journals. His most well known contribution to probability theory is the "Kuznetsov-measure." A conference honoring his 60th birthday has been organized at Boulder, Colorado in the summer of 2010, with the participation of Sergei Kuznetsov’s mentor and major co-author, Eugene Dynkin. The conference focused on topics related to superprocesses, branching diffusions and nonlinear partial differential equations. In particular, connections to the so-called “Kuznetsov-measure” were emphasized. Leading experts in the field as well as young researchers contributed to the conference. The meeting was organized by J. Englander and B. Rider (U. of Colorado).
