It seems like I am juggling two balls at the same time and I cannot afford to drop anyone of them. There are no second changes, no apologies will make amends and no one seems to be able to just jump right in and take over for me. I never dreamt I would be a Stepmom, never in my life. However, here I am like an Olympic athlete giving my all to finish well, to reach the goal(gold). Often misunderstood, taken for granted, praised here and there, pulled in the spotlight, having to take the back seat at times, shoved and pushed into roles and responsibilities I am not sure I bargained for, but knowing in my mind that- ......I'm bankrupt without love. Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn't want what it doesn't have. Love doesn't strut, Doesn't have a swelled head, Doesn't force itself on others, Isn't always "me first," Doesn't fly off the handle, Doesn't keep score of the sins of others, Doesn't revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end.... (1 Cor. 13:3-7 MSG). So here, I made these lists, being the well organised person I have always been. I find these lists to be helpful, thoughtful, provoking, meaningful, inspirational, pertinent, important, reflective, serious and definitely worth the exercise. I want to do all in my power to make this blended family work and I am sure you want to do the same too. Stepmoms do struggle, in this journal, you will find some really helpful lists to help you unearth some of the hidden qualities within you, things you never thought you had and things you may struggle with. The lists will also help you articulate in black and white some of the things you ought to seriously consider as a Stepmom, as there are those thought provoking things that you have to really think about, consider and reflect upon. Finish the list, work it anyway you wish, you need not take it in order. Make it your own and refer to it, now and then. Revise it if you deem it necessary. Remember, you are awesome. Next time you greet someone, say, I'm a Stepmom, what's your Superpower!!!
