La première fait le point sur les notions de statistique descriptive, statistique inférentielle et chaînes de Markov, présentes aux programmes des lycées. Nous donnons en particulier une présentation synthétique des principes probabilistes en jeu dans la statistique inférentielle qui pourra être utile aux professeurs ayant à les enseigner (en ES et S, mais aussi en STMG, STI2D, STL). Cette première partie contient aussi quelques réflexions critiques sur les programmes et des suggestions de progression. La deuxième partie est un recueil d'activités ou exercices. Plusieurs de ces activités ont des liens avec d'autres disciplines (sciences naturelles, physique, géographie, démographie).
