Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book we have solved the complicated problem of constructing upper bounds for many-time averages for the case of a fairly broad class of model systems with four-fermion interaction. The methods proposed in this book for solving this problem will undoubtedly find application not only for the model systems associated with the theory of superconductivity considered here. The theoretical methods developed in Chapters 1 and 2 are already applicable to a much broader class of model systems from statistical physics and the theory of elementary particles. Book Synopsis Mathematical Foundations of Quantum Statistical Mechanics by : D.Y. Petrina
Download or read book Mathematical Foundations of Quantum Statistical Mechanics written by D.Y. Petrina and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is devoted to quantum statistical mechanics. It can be regarded as a continuation of the book "Mathematical Foundations of Classical Statistical Mechanics. Continuous Systems" (Gordon & Breach SP, 1989) written together with my colleagues V. I. Gerasimenko and P. V. Malyshev. Taken together, these books give a complete pre sentation of the statistical mechanics of continuous systems, both quantum and classical, from the common point of view. Both books have similar contents. They deal with the investigation of states of in finite systems, which are described by infinite sequences of statistical operators (reduced density matrices) or Green's functions in the quantum case and by infinite sequences of distribution functions in the classical case. The equations of state and their solutions are the main object of investigation in these books. For infinite systems, the solutions of the equations of state are constructed by using the thermodynamic limit procedure, accord ing to which we first find a solution for a system of finitely many particles and then let the number of particles and the volume of a region tend to infinity keeping the density of particles constant. However, the style of presentation in these books is quite different.
Book Synopsis Modern Theories of Many-Particle Systems in Condensed Matter Physics by : Daniel C. Cabra
Download or read book Modern Theories of Many-Particle Systems in Condensed Matter Physics written by Daniel C. Cabra and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-05 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Condensed matter systems where interactions are strong are inherently difficult to analyze theoretically. The situation is particularly interesting in low-dimensional systems, where quantum fluctuations play a crucial role. Here, the development of non-perturbative methods and the study of integrable field theory have facilitated the understanding of the behavior of many quasi one- and two-dimensional strongly correlated systems. In view of the same rapid development that has taken place for both experimental and numerical techniques, as well as the emergence of novel testing-grounds such as cold atoms or graphene, the current understanding of strongly correlated condensed matter systems differs quite considerably from standard textbook presentations. The present volume of lecture notes aims to fill this gap in the literature by providing a collection of authoritative tutorial reviews, covering such topics as quantum phase transitions of antiferromagnets and cuprate-based high-temperature superconductors, electronic liquid crystal phases, graphene physics, dynamical mean field theory applied to strongly correlated systems, transport through quantum dots, quantum information perspectives on many-body physics, frustrated magnetism, statistical mechanics of classical and quantum computational complexity, and integrable methods in statistical field theory. As both graduate-level text and authoritative reference on this topic, this book will benefit newcomers and more experienced researchers in this field alike.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main theme of the book is the intimate connection between the two families of exactly solvable models: the inverse-square exchange (ISE) and the nearest-neighbor exchange (NNE) models. The latter are better known as the Bethe-Ansatz solvable models and include the Heisenberg spin chain, t–J models and Hubbard models. The former, the Calogero–Sutherland family of models, are simple to solve and contain essentially the same physics as the NNE family. The author introduces and discusses current topics, such as the Luttinger liquid concept, fractional statistics, and spin–charge separation, in the context of the explicit models. Book Synopsis Applications Of Field Theory Methods In Statistical Physics Of Nonequilibrium Systems by : Bohdan I Lev
Download or read book Applications Of Field Theory Methods In Statistical Physics Of Nonequilibrium Systems written by Bohdan I Lev and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2021-02-18 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book formulates a unified approach to the description of many-particle systems combining the methods of statistical physics and quantum field theory. The benefits of such an approach are in the description of phase transitions during the formation of new spatially inhomogeneous phases, as well in describing quasi-equilibrium systems with spatially inhomogeneous particle distributions (for example, self-gravitating systems) and metastable states. The validity of the methods used in the statistical description of many-particle systems and models (theory of phase transitions included) is discussed and compared. The idea of using the quantum field theory approach and related topics (path integration, saddle-point and stationary-phase methods, Hubbard-Stratonovich transformation, mean-field theory, and functional integrals) is described in detail to facilitate further understanding and explore more applications. To some extent, the book could be treated as a brief encyclopedia of methods applicable to the statistical description of spatially inhomogeneous equilibrium and metastable particle distributions. Additionally, the general approach is not only formulated, but also applied to solve various practically important problems (gravitating gas, Coulomb-like systems, dusty plasmas, thermodynamics of cellular structures, non-uniform dynamics of gravitating systems, etc.).
