Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume constitutes the proceedings of the third International Workshop on Static Analysis (WSA`93), held in Padova, Italy, in September 1993. The objective of the international workshop series WSA is to serve as a forum for the discussion of the various aspects of static analysis in different programming paradigms. The clearly increasing mumbers of submitted papers and workshop participants point out the growing importance of static analysis techniques for logical, functional, concurrent and parallel languages as well as for parallel term rewriting systems. This proceedings contains, besides the abstracts or full papers of the invited talks given by Pascal Van Hentenryck, Peter van Roy, and Paul Hudak, full versions of the 20 contributed papers selected from a total of 68 submissions by an international program committee consisting of many renown researchers in the field. The volume is organized in sections on fixpoint computation, concurrency, parallelism, transformation, logic programs, term rewriting systems, strictness, reasoning about programs, and types.

Book Synopsis Parallel Logic Programming by : Evan Tick
Download or read book Parallel Logic Programming written by Evan Tick and published by MIT Press (MA). This book was released on 1991 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Highly parallel machines have been available for many years but, because advances in hardware have always outpaced progress in software development, designers and users of these machines have yet to realize their full potential. Until recently there have been few, if any, high-class parallel programming languages that could be implemented on the wide variety of parallel processing systems in use. This book helps to redress the balance by teaching programming techniques as well as performance analysis of parallel programming languages and architectures using logic programming; specifically, it focuses on the Prolog-like languages OR-parallel Prolog and AND-parallel FGHC. Parallel Logic Programmingbrings to light practical applications of a previously esoteric/theoretical area of parallel logic programming and is unique in presenting programming hand-in-hand with performance analysis of real empirical measurements. Its quantitative approach to symbolic parallel programming provides students and professionals with tools for implementing and critically evaluating larger projects. The book includes useful chapter summaries, programming projects, and a glossary.

Book excerpt: Staticanalysisisaresearchareaaimedatdevelopingprinciplesandtoolsforv- i?cation and semantics-based manipulation of programs and high-performance implementations of programming languages. The series of Static Analysis s- posia has served as the primary venue for presentation and discussion of th- retical, practical, and application advances in the area. This volume contains the papers accepted for presentation at the 10th - ternational Static Analysis Symposium (SAS 2003),which was held June 11–13, 2003 in San Diego, California, USA. Firmly established as a leading forum in the static analysis area, SAS 2003 received 82 high-quality submissions. Each paper was carefully reviewed, being judgedaccordingtoscienti?cquality, originality, andrelevancetothesymposium topics. Following on-line discussions, the program committee met in Paris, France, ́ at the Ecole Normale Sup ́ erieure on March 15, 2003, and selected 25 papers. In addition to the contributed papers, this volume includes an invited paper by Manuel Hermenegildo (Technical University of Madrid and University of New Mexico)and the abstractof aninvited talk by KenMcMillan (Cadence Berkeley Laboratories). On behalf of the Program Committee and the General Chair, I would like to thank the authors of the submitted papers, and the external referees, who p- vided timely and signi?cant reviews. I owe special thanks to Jacques Beigbeder ́ from Ecole Normale Sup ́ erieure for managing the submission site and the dev- opers of CyberChair for the use of their software. On this occasion, SAS was sponsored by the Association for Computing - chinery(ACM) andwasheld aspartofthe FederatedComputing ResearchC- ference (FCRC 2003). I would like to thank all organizing committee members for all their tremendous work.
Book Synopsis Implementations of Logic Programming Systems by : Evan Tick
Download or read book Implementations of Logic Programming Systems written by Evan Tick and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a collection of research papers in the area of the implementation of logic programming systems. It will be of immediate interest to practitioners who seek an understanding of how to efficiently manage memory, generate fast code, perform sophisticated static analyses, and design high-performance runtime features. A major theme throughout the book is how to effectively leverage host implementation systems and technologies to implement target systems. The book is also beneficial for future reference because it summarizes a wealth of systems implementation experience of the researchers shaping the field over the past ten years. Another theme of the book is compilation techniques to boost performance. The field of static analysis for logic programs is a rapidly developing field that deserves a volume on its own. Implementations of Logic Programming Systems is an excellent reference and may be used as a text for a course on the subject.

Book Synopsis Static Analysis by : Agostino Cortesi
Download or read book Static Analysis written by Agostino Cortesi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-31 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Static analysis is increasingly recognized as a fundamental reasearch area aimed at studying and developing tools for high performance implementations and v- i cation systems for all programming language paradigms. The last two decades have witnessed substantial developments in this eld, ranging from theoretical frameworks to design, implementation, and application of analyzers in optim- ing compilers. Since 1994, SAS has been the annual conference and forum for researchers in all aspects of static analysis. This volume contains the proceedings of the 6th International Symposium on Static Analysis (SAS’99) which was held in Venice, Italy, on 22{24 September 1999. The previous SAS conferences were held in Namur (Belgium), Glasgow (UK), Aachen (Germany), Paris (France), and Pisa (Italy). The program committee selected 18 papers out of 42 submissions on the basis of at least three reviews. The resulting volume o ers to the reader a complete landscape of the research in this area. The papers contribute to the following topics: foundations of static analysis, abstract domain design, and applications of static analysis to di erent programming paradigms (concurrent, synchronous, imperative, object oriented, logical, and functional). In particular, several papers use static analysis for obtaining state space reduction in concurrent systems. New application elds are also addressed, such as the problems of security and secrecy.
