Hann and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Summaries from 49 published articles on site-index and dominant-heightgrowth curves and equations are presented for 20 tree species or species groups found in California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, southeastern Alaska, Idaho, and western Montana. The summaries are organized by species. Each summary describes the modeling approach, type of curves/ equations, base age, and type of age presented in the article. In addition, the geographic location, number of trees or plots, range in age, and range in site index used to develop the curves/equations are also described.

This book was released on 2018-01-08 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Height-Age and Site Index Curves for Pacific Silver Fir in the Pacific Northwest Equations were developed to estimate the number of years free-growing trees need to reach breast height for the range of site index values. Conversion equations are provided to estimate height at age 50 for curves representing index heights at age 100. The results give forest managers working tools for use in managing silver fir. Keywords: Site index, Pacific silver fir, Abies amabilis, height growth, dominant, stem analysis, Pacific Northwest. Book Synopsis Height-diameter Equations for Six Species in the Coastal Regions of the Pacific Northwest by : Mark L. Hanus
Download or read book Height-diameter Equations for Six Species in the Coastal Regions of the Pacific Northwest written by Mark L. Hanus and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three equations for predicting tree height as a function of diameter (outside bark) at breast height are presented for six species found in coastal regions of the Pacific Northwest. Foresters can use these "height-diameter" equations to avoid the time-consuming task of measuring heights of all individual trees in an inventory, a stand exam, or a timber cruise. Equation coefficients were estimated with weighted nonlinear regression techniques. Because the relationship between a tree's height and diameter depends on the tree's competitive position within the stand, alternative equations, including the average height and average diameter of the 40 largest-diameter trees/ac, are also presented. These equations are used in the Stand Management Cooperative version of ORGANON.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from Height Growth and Site Index Curves for Managed, Even-Aged Stands of Ponderosa Pine in the Pacific Northwest The most desirable density is the density at which trees continue growing at the pre determined goal rate. As the 'stand grows older, relatively low density will be maintained by periodic thinnings to some basal area level or tree number average diameter combination. Height of the dominant or tallest portion of the stand is the one measure of growth found most independent of stand factors and, consequently, the most reliable for site evaluation (lynch Generally speaking, we can conclude from the litera ture that height is not materi ally affected in stands that are not extremely overstocked or understocked (spurr In the Pacific Northwest, however, Weaver Baker Mowat Lynch (1958) and Barrett (1973) have shown that dense stocking of ponderosa pine does reduce height growth.
