Download or read book Philately written by John Sundararaj and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2015-08-15 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have been collecting stamps for about thirty years and I could not find a handbook, which can help me to understand how I must collect and what I must collect and how it should be presented in an exhibition etc. Since I have been involving myself with the department of posts in conducting workshops for the school children I thought it is of paramount importance to have a handbook on philately, which could help everyone who collects, may get some preliminary idea of stamp collecting. If not for anything else the Internet has encouraged many new people to pursue this fascinating hobby. It is a well-known fact that philately has attracted millions of people of all ages who take keen interest in collecting stamps of various countries of the world. Unlike other sports, interestingly there is no age of retirement in philately! Many newcomers to this hobby especially school children, request a lot of information regarding stamps and how to go about it the right way. To all those who have inundated me for information, I am adding some basic thoughts to further their knowledge. Some of the information exists already on the net and some books are also available. I have just gleaned it from there and presented it here in the manner I thought fit so that even a child can understand. For all those facing a similar predicament I have tried to incorporate soaking tips, types of stamps, types of cancellations, types of post offices, a few websites, glossary of philatelic terms and all such information into these pages. The book achieves its predicament if this book inspire many young minds to emerge as philatelists and thus enjoy this wonderful hobby and contribute to the world of history, culture and above all to overall knowledgebase for the betterment of humanity.

Book Synopsis Hermann Hesse's Global Impact by : Oscar Von Seth
Download or read book Hermann Hesse's Global Impact written by Oscar Von Seth and published by Boydell & Brewer. This book was released on 2024 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A timely collection of new essays arguing for the continuing relevance and impact of Hesse's works around the world. Hermann Hesse remains one of the great figures of world literature. He is the world's 35th most translated author, with more than 1,500 translations of his works currently listed on UNESCO's Index Translatorium. Our understanding of the reciprocal transcultural reception of literature has been radically transformed in the last two decades, starting with David Damrosch's What is World Literature? (2003). Meanwhile, some forty years have passed since Martin Pfeifer's anthology Hermann Hesses weltweite Wirkung (Hermann Hesse's Worldwide Impact) was published, which means it is time to consider Hesse's global impact again, though not in terms of a country-by-country study. Rather, this book explores Hesse's continuing global relevance more broadly. Hesse is "global" in the sense that his themes touch on the non-material side of human existence in a way that readers in different cultural communities respond to. His prose and poetry offer an oasis of calm, authenticity, and spirituality-a mental terrain of profound and genuine meaning. The present collection of new essays argues that this "spiritual capital" may help readers of Hesse in uncertain times, beyond the doctrines of organized religions or ideologies, assisting them in inhabiting creatively both the world of literature and the visceral world of the early 21st century. Edited by Ingo Cornils and NealeCunningham. Sebastian: I admit I’m attracted to my co-worker Iris—and not just because she was wearing glowing cat paw underwear. But even though she’s breached my first line of defense, I’m set in my Grinch ways. I need to prove myself—and dating my co-worker is definitely forbidden. Iris is the Secret Snowflake for her perfect man—who is definitely not Sebastian. Iris: No more naughty heartthrobs for me. Catching my rock star ex cheating cured me. All I’m asking Santa for is my work bonus and a nice guy. And that’s my Secret Snowflake recipient, Ernest. My plan: Befriend Sebastian, Ernest’s colleague, to figure out the perfect gift for Ernest to spark his interest. But now our company has been hacked, and secrets abound. I’m working around the clock to figure out who and why—with our aloof, but oh-so-attractive company counsel, Sebastian—before I get a stocking filled with coal for the holidays. The last thing I should also be trying to decipher is him. But then I get blamed. I know I can trust Sebastian to help me. It’s trusting my heart that’s the problem. When things are definitely not what they seem, sometimes it takes the light of the holidays to reveal the clues to love.
