Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book “First I give you what you want so that gradually you will want what I have really come to give you– Liberation itself!” The vast number of visitors from all over the world, from all walks of life and all faiths has been converging at Prasanthi Nilayam in a remote region of Southern India just to have a glimpse of a Holy man, Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Avatar of the present Age. Royalty, Heads of State, Politicians, Industrialists, Judges, Priests, Doctors, Army Generals, Scientists, Actors, Cricketers, Teachers, Students, General Public - all congregate at this Abode of Supreme Peace. His Ashram resembles a mini United Nations of spiritual seekers, with groups of foreign devotees wearing different coloured scarves for country-wise identification. The book contains dramatic eye-witness accounts of extraordinary Sai phenomena and the wonders taking place in Sai Baba’s Ashram. Never before in the history of the world have there been so many indications of the descent of the Full Avatar in human form. The miracles of Krishna and Jesus must be taken on trust and faith; those of Sri Sathya Sai Baba you can see for yourself. The author describes the various ways how Sri Sathya Sai Baba is transforming humanity; discusses the factors on which his devotees base their belief in him; outlines his Mission and explains how he is achieving it. The danger from which Man has to be rescued has never been so great and the evil over the Earth never so pronounced as now. Sathya Sai Baba’s Mission starts with nothing less than the transformation of humanity; to reinstate the supremacy of the spirit over matter and offer liberation itself! Sathya Sai Baba is short in stature, has a huge halo of hair on his head, wears an orange robe, walks as though his feet are gliding on the floor, displays a majestic grace, works all day long but at the same time maintains an austere life style. He is a fountain of knowledge although he has never read any books; he speaks in the most profound way with remarkable clarity and spontaneity, as he has no need to think; he always gives discourses impromptu, as he has no need of any notes or preparation; he replies to searching questions by scientists, theologians and other intellectuals with a ready and spontaneous answer on any subject. This Avatar never engages in any spiritual practice: does no Japa, or reciting the holy name; no Dhyana, or meditating; and no Yoga, practising union with God. He knows no worship or prayer, for He is the Highest. He only teaches you to worship and pray. The Rishis and Saints of yore evolved through spiritual practice to high levels of consciousness and God realization to ascend heavenwards. The Avatar, by contrast, is already born fully divine and descends downwards. His humanitarian projects are unique like his Schools and Universities that provide free education; world-class Super-Specialty Hospitals in rural areas that provide free treatment to one and all; and massive water systems that provide drinking water to millions of people in drought-prone districts, all established in record time. Sathya Sai Baba’s Global Education Programme based on human values aims to bring about worldwide social transformation, reduce strife and turmoil, and unite mankind to live as one family in peace and harmony. The author describes the worldwide Sai Movement, with special reference to Latin America where the Sai Spirit has spread like wild fire, crossing the barriers of language, religion and culture.

Book excerpt: The auspicious day of Vijaya Dasami, in 1953, opened a golden chapter in the history of mankind, for that was the day chosen by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba for His first ever divine discourse in public. The flow of divine discourses, which started on that auspicious day out of His immense compassion for the well-being and harmony of humanity, has continued unabated even after five decades. During this period, Bhagawan has delivered hundreds of discourses in various places, to a variety of audiences. His benevolent acts for the humanity at large are also unparalleled. His noble mother made three requests to Him, namely to provide drinking water, a school, and a hospital for the village of Puttaparthi. Bhagawan has commissioned mammoth drinking water projects, benefitting hundreds of villages, towns, and even the city of Chennai. He has also built schools, colleges, super specialty hospitals, and even an outstanding university, and constructed thousands of houses to cyclone-hit people. This priceless inaugural volume in Sathya Sai Speaks contains thirty three divine discourses, of which five are for the students and authorities, giving invaluable guidance. There are also five discourses addressed to the residents of different villages, advising them on the value of unity and brotherhood.

Book excerpt: After having been introduced to the perennial wisdom of the East, the main intent of the author is to reconcile those spiritual principles with the intellectual thinking of the West. He sees the turning point in the relationship between science and spirituality in the discovery that matter is another form of energy. This energy, the author hypothesizes, is identical with the life force in every living thing as well as with the consciousness in animals and human beings. He equates it with the Divine Absolute, brahman in the Vedic tradition, which thus can be easily understood as the basis of everything that is. In order to explain the discrepancy between the One and Only formless Divine and the God, who is revered in every religion, he shows that every human being lives in his/her individual Reality in which he/she adores the form of God which corresponds best with his/her innermost nature. He then shows that a viewpoint based on this newly established Hypothesis greatly enhances the understanding of all religions, philosophies and viewpoints, of which, he believes, it can become a common basis. He also points out that it is vital for the future development of our societies.

An enchanting bhajan composer and singer, a world teacher, and unexcelled educator of the vital, a Yogishwara pressing an amazing variety of talent and capacity into service for the fulfillment of his mission, a kalpataru or a wish-fulfilling tree for his devotees, the very avatar of Love, the voice of one’s own innermost heart speaking to each individual externally, a universal presence to be felt and known, a promoter of the unity of world religions and of a philosophy that embraces Matter and Spirit and the inaugurator of a new social order, he is easily the most colourful and many faceted prophet that modern India has produced. Several antinomies meet and mingle and are reconciled in his personality - the most significant pair being one of Solitude and Multitude. Thousands of Sathya Sai Baba Samitis function in all parts of India and there are hundreds of them in the U.S.A., U.K., and several other parts of the world. Crowds collect in their lakhs to hear him in India. What is the secret of this charismatic power that Bhagavan Baba wields wherever he goes? Baba declared in the Sri Sathya Sai World Conference held in Bombay in 1968 that the mission for which he has come is the spiritual regeneration of India and of the mankind through her. And he has said that he will not cease from his labours till his mission is fulfilled.

Book excerpt: India has always nurtured true yoginsthose who have transcended the lower self, those in whom wonderworking powers of siddhis have flourished. These powers, or some of them, have been brought into the research laboratories of the parapsychologists who call them extrasensory perception and psychokinesis. Others call them miracles. Whatever the terminology, such powers and their practitioners demand sensible attention. This account relates some of the achievements of one of the most impressive men of miracles to appear in centuries. Satya Sai Babahis followers believe him to be a reincarnation of Sai Baba of Shirdi who died in 1918, appears to have been born with phenomenal powers, which he used in childhood and has employed constantly and openly ever since. They include all the varieties of E.S.P. and P.K. known to psychic science and more besides. The author, a Westerner devoted to science and logic, spent many months with Satya Said Baba--he claims to have found that his "unscientific," "illogical" miracles were, in fact, genuine yogic siddhis. He found, too, that along with Christlike miraculous powers went a Christlike love, compassion and the Godknowledge that opens the door to a new vision of life.

This was the story of the Advent of the Avatar and the early years of His life and mission, a mission that would bring millions to His Lotus Feet to taste the bliss of Divine Love and thus transform their lives. In a letter He wrote to His brother Sri Seshama Raju way back in 1947, Sri Sathya Sai Baba emphatically declared the grand purpose for which He has come. He said: I have a Task: To foster all mankind and ensure for all of them lives full of Ananda (Bliss). I have a Vow: To lead all who stray away from the straight path, again into goodness and save them. I am attached to a Work that I love: To remove the sufferings of the poor and grant them what they lack. I have a reason to be proud, for I rescue all who worship and adore Me. The decades that have rolled by since that epochal letter was written have been witness to the grand manner in which His vision has taken shape. The world-class super-speciality hospitals that offer tertiary level medical care free of charge, schools and colleges that impart values-based education, the mammoth drinking water supply projects and the numerous other service projects undertaken by Him stand as a testimony to His selfless Love and His compassion for humanity. However, even more, significant than these activities have been His tireless efforts towards spreading the message of spirituality and inculcating love and brotherhood throughout the world. Through the Sri Sathya Sai Centers and the Education in Human Values (EHV) programmes, thousands all over the world have sanctified their lives by putting into practice His precepts, and by participating in service programmes such as Narayana Seva (feeding of the poor) and free medical camps. Truly, the Sathya Sai Avatar has heralded a golden era in the history of mankind.

This book was released on 2022-11-19 with total page 2599 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Message from Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Philosophy is the butter churned out of knowledge. But since human aspirations and ideals, which change from place to place and time to time, decide which aspects of knowledge are included in the churning process, it is often incomplete or inadequate or contradictory. Generally speaking, religious beliefs and practices, folkways, customs and traditions, educational methods, art forms, etc., help the formulation of the underlying philosophy. Believing that the world, as cognised during the waking state, is real and that the highest goal is the attainment of happiness in that world, man accumulates the instruments and symbols of that happiness; he fashions after his own taste and inclination according to the dictates of his own reason, the laws, ideals, institutions and principles that would bolster that happiness. This attempt leads to a philosophy which can be named “Western.” But can the goal of Life be just this—to struggle amidst the waves of joy and grief that rise and fall in this visible objective world, to be carried along the current of desire, gathering food, shelter, comfort and pleasure, and finally, to flounder into the jaws of death? Consider what is happening now: in the name of progress, art is degraded into immoral and sensuous entertainment; educational advance results, not in advance of humility and reverence, but in rampant indiscipline, arrogance and irreverence. The emphasis long placed on the development of character and the promotion of virtue through education has now been dropped. In their place are enthroned as ideals: worldly success, self-aggrandisement, and high living. Laws, rules and regulations are multiplying fast, but there is no sign of unrighteousness and injustice being diminished. Greed is growing beyond control; the advance of science is marked, not by a proportionate advance in peace and happiness, but by a phenomenal increase in terror, unrest and anxiety. With his thousand-faced curiosity, man is analysing and utilising the outer world; but the inner world, which is basic, is ignored and forgotten. Human life is a composite of the secular and the spiritual. But now, the flesh is coddled, while the spirit is consigned into oblivion. As a result, neither the individual, nor society, nor the nation can hope to have peace and security. The framework of Creation is an amalgam of right and wrong, joy and grief, cold and warmth; so, it is against Nature to expect only right, or only joy, only wrong or only grief. It is not possible to uproot right wholly from the world, nor is it possible to uproot wrong wholly free from grief in any form. The burden of wrong and the agony of grief can be reduced, however, in proportion to the loyalty that man offers to sublime ideals and his efforts to put them into practice. So long as man lives on the level of the beasts, concentrating all his talents on the task of securing food, shelter, and other physical and material needs, the unrest now rooted in his heart cannot be got rid of. Therefore, the path of Dharma or Righteousness, which ensures inner purification and harmony, should not be given up. What is Dharma? It is the way of higher life directed by the ideals one holds dear, by the level of attainment one has reached, by the status of the individual in society, and the individual’s own awareness of himself and his status. Mere awareness of “I am a human being,” will not guide him into the path of Dharma; those who are aware only of this will be guided only into the path of feeding, sleeping and the avoidance of fear from danger. Awareness of, “I am a human being,” is only half the truth. “I am not a beast,” is the other half. Always remind yourself of what you are, as well as what you are not; when this is done, when activities are in accordance with that awareness, man will be manifesting the full significance of the name he is known by. When man has resolved to understand his reality by the method of enquiry, he must avoid the error of condemning the points of view held dear by others. It is not right to deny their validity. He has to give value to all aspects, consider all views; for, there is no clear-cut distinction between mine and thine, this and that other. Truth is Knowledge; Knowledge is Limitless. Truth has to be discovered by analysing the complex mass of facts and things. Indian Culture is the product of the experience of generations in the field of this Truth, of Knowledge that is limitless, that is seen through the vision of the Wise. When students have the chance once to look upon this Culture, to contact its living embodiments and expressions, and to hold converse with its manifold manifestations, all doubts regarding it will vanish from their minds. It is a fact that persons who are too lazy to learn, who have not grasped the validity of Vedanta, or the relative reality of the world, feel that Indian culture is at best a ruse to while away one’s time. We are not concerned with such persons. They have such ideas because they do not know that Vedanta is their own history. Animals are not conscious that they are alive; they live without being aware of life. If man too leads life in this manner, verily he is no better than a mere animal. Your forefathers were being fed from infancy on breast milk reinforced by the mixture of sublime ideals and principles of righteousness. As a result, they stuck to the path of righteousness steadily in a commendable form. They strove to help each other; cooperated in all efforts to promote the welfare of others and sympathised when others suffered or incurred loss or injury. They did not allow feelings of hatred, revenge or violence to tarnish their minds. They recognised that their chief duty was to devote themselves to activities conducive to the general good. Today, those who pride themselves on the enormous advance achieved by man and prance about prattling the stories of their paltry victories, are only demonstrating by their behaviour that they are totally ignorant of the high principles followed in life by their forefathers. What is the reason for the disappearance from the present generation of the sublime virtues of those days, of sympathy and mutual aid, of the peace and happiness that prevailed then? No enquiry is probing into this problem. Can a King, declaring himself the master of a state, fulfil all the wishes of his subjects? Why, he finds himself incompetent to fulfil even all his own wishes! If he decides to pursue his fancies on the plea that he is the lord and master, his subjects draw him down from the throne. How does this happen? However high a person’s authority, he has to bow his head to some laws and limits that are laid down to ensure proper exercise of that power. They might have been laid down by the king himself, but once accepted and announced, he is bound to them as strongly as any one else. If he acts in contravention of the covenant, the subjects, too, would break away from the laws and limits that regulate their activities and behaviours, and anarchy would result. For, the saying goes, “As the ruler, so the ruled.” Therefore, the law-maker should obey the law; he who lays down the limit should himself respect it. This is the precious lesson, the shining lamp of wisdom, that the Ramayana is holding forth for the benefit of man. This is the excellence of the culture and history of India. Students have to be instructed on these monuments of Indian Culture and informed of the ideals which they embody. Their intellects, thus charged and cleansed, have to be offered to the nations of the world as ideals to be emulated. They, themselves, will be saved thereby; they will serve as guides and leaders to others. Intending to place before them the Truth, to remove from their minds the ruinous beliefs that have sprouted there as a result of the craze for novelty in recent times, and to uproot the specious arguments and fantastic doubts that are clinging to their reasoning faculty, and, resolving to imprint on the pure, steadfast, and conceit less hearts of the young the peace and joy that their forefathers were able to live in, we have arranged to invite elders of invaluable experience in these fields, and instruct youth on moral, ethical, spiritual, physical and secular truths. When such a sacred Yajna is held every year, present-day youth can easily understand and appreciate not only the Culture of India, but also the Wisdom garnered by people of other lands.
