Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Having applied the standards of modern critical theory, it may sound fruitless to account for biographical details of writer in interpreting his work as the biographical details either hold no importance or have nothing to do with the work of art in the sense that once a work of art is born, it looses its connection with the creator. Moreover, even in the moment of creation, the author remains detached from his creation. However, there are some exceptions to this. It has been observed that the biographical details are of immense help in partly making sense of what the concerned author has encoded. These details can be correlated to his writing. In the case of some writers, their life has a special relation with what they write, how they led their life, what inspiration they sought, what influences they received and imbibed in their personality, what experiences they lived with, and what events and occasions they confronted.

Book Synopsis Inspiration from Savitri: Nature by : Sri Aurobindo
Download or read book Inspiration from Savitri: Nature written by Sri Aurobindo and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-03-13 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In each of the volumes of Inspiration from Savitri one can be lifted to heights above mortal mind, to planes of beauty, truth and delight no previous work of literature or inspired poetry has been able to achieve. Sri Aurobindo, the Seer-Poet has created an epic so vast that it awaits the 'fit' reader whose soul is open to mantric poetry. In this present volume anothers, still works in progress, I have aspired to share my joy in the immersion of these worlds of transcendent bliss. One is thrilled at the innumerable ways Sri Aurobindo uses words and has enriched the English language, raising it to new and greater heights. There are so many examples one can choose. To mention just one, do look at the word 'Bloom' and exult in the magic of his poetic genius. For this reason and others I have included all the definitions for each word whether it be used as a noun, verb or adjective, compound word, etc. In fact, Sri Aurobindo may use the same word many times in Savitri, each time with a different meaning. Though I have read Savitri cover to cover many times in twelve years of compiling the Lexicon of An Infinite Mind, a 'Dictionary of Words and Terms in Savitri, new understandings and glimpses of the beauty of Nature and her ultimate fulfilment through the descent of the Supramental in all its power and vastness, carrying the Truth-Coonsciousness to earth and men, have through the largesse of the supreme Grace, opened much to me and continue to open more as I read Savitri again and again. The further evolution of beauty in Nature's trees and flowers, the abundance of her life-giving gifts of fruits and grains and herbs and so much more to come when the 'Life Divine' is fully manifested on earth will be evident to all in the next phase of the evolution. I hope the reader of this volume will be inspired by the quotations on animals and birds and flowers, for through the genius and brilliance of Sri Aurobindo's poetry the face of Nature is shown to usthrough the highest and most intensely beautiful lines in all their glory and plenitude. Here is only one passage of the hundreds quoted, a passage of such sweetness (I am told that sweetness is Sri Aurobindo's favorite word as it was that of Shakespeare as well), that it inspires us to aspire with all our consciousness to help the earth recover from the devastation wrought by man and assist in itsreturn to the manifestion of divine and unparalled beauty and diversity. The life of the enchanted globe became A storm of sweetness and of light and song, A revel of colour and of ecstasy, A hymn of rays, a litany of cries: A strain of choral priestly music sang And, swung on the swaying censer of the trees, A sacrifice of perfume filled the hours. --93.30-- Asocas burned in crimson spots of flame, Pure like the breath of an unstained desire White jasmines haunted the enamoured air, Pale mango-blossoms fed the liquid voice Of the love-maddened coil, and the brown bee Muttered in fragrance mid the honey-buds. --93.31-- The sunlight was a great god's golden smile. --93.32-- All Nature was at beauty's festival. --93.33--"

Book Synopsis The Essential Aurobindo by : Sri Aurobindo
Download or read book The Essential Aurobindo written by Sri Aurobindo and published by SteinerBooks. This book was released on 2001 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who wrote the Gospel of John? The author identifies himself only as "the disciple whom Jesus loved," and Christian tradition tells us that this disciple was the apostle John. However, during the past century, scholars have increasingly come to doubt that attribution. In 1902, Rudolf Steiner wrote that the author of the Gospel of John was in fact Lazarus. Steiner's position stemmed from his insight that Lazarus's encounter with death involved far more than people realized--an initiation into higher spiritual realities that uniquely qualified him to write this gospel. Edward Smith takes up this argument and shows that subsequent research has tended to favor Lazarus for reasons grounded in John's Gospel itself. More important, Smith shows that subsequent discoveries at Nag Hammadi and Mar Saba corroborate Steiner's reasoning about the nature of the raising of Lazarus, pointing to Lazarus as "the rich young ruler" of Mark's Gospel.
