Hat der Sportpädagoge Lütgeharm gar Recht mit seiner Einschätzung, Schule sei [wegen des strukturell vorgegebenen Bewegungsmangels] ein „besonders gesundheitsgefährdendes soziales Umfeld“ ? Bei einer quantitativ wie qualitativ angelegten Bestandsaufnahme zur Verbreitung und Verankerung von „Bewegung in der Schule“ müsste man vermutlich feststellen, dass die Institution Schule im Alltagsverständnis immer noch mehr als Sitz- und Gesprächsraum denn als ein Bewegungsraum verstanden wird. Bewegung innerhalb der Schule findet in der Regel und nach wie vor in zweckbestimmten Räumen und zu streng vorgegebenen Zeiten statt, z.B. in Turnhallen, auf Schulhöfen, im Rahmen des Sportunterrichts, während der Pausen. Seit Mitte der 1980er Jahre ist man bemüht, diesem Anspruch gerecht zu werden und es wird - ausgehend von der Schweiz – nun auch hierzulande der Versuch unternommen, „einen Zusammenhang zwischen Bewegung, Gesundheit, Lernen und Schule herzustellen und zu begründen sowie auf der Grundlage der theoretischen Reflexion auch praktisch umzusetzen.“ Im Bundesland Niedersachsen ist man seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre dabei, die Schulen des Landes vom „Sitzdiktat“ zu befreien. Dies geschieht zum Teil „von unten“, auf pädagogische Eigeninitiative vor allem im Grundschulbereich, aber und vor allem auch „von oben“ mit dem Niedersächsischen Kultusministerium als Initiator. Ein Beispiel einer solch „praktischen Umsetzung“ im Lande Niedersachsen soll nun im Folgenden näher betrachtet werden. Es soll deutlich gemacht werden, inwiefern Bewegung in der Schule nicht etwa als reines Kompensations- und Funktionselement dient, sondern warum Bewegung als Bildungsmöglichkeit intendiert ist. Ausgangspunkt für diesen Untersuchungsgegenstand ist zum einen die Frage, welche konkreten Elemente bewegter Schule ein- und umgesetzt werden, zum zweiten wird gefragt: Welche Konsequenzen lassen sich ableiten aus den Ansprüchen an die Bewegte Schule? Sind diese Ansprüche aus verschiedener Perspektive (Kultusministerium, Schulleitung, Lehrkräfte, Schüler, Eltern) miteinander kompatibel?

Here Leslie Kurke analyzes the ideological functions of Greek coinage as one of a number of symbolic practices that arise for the first time in the archaic period. By linking the imagery of metals and coinage to stories about oracles, prostitutes, Eastern tyrants, counterfeiting, retail trade, and games, she traces the rising egalitarian ideology of the polis, as well as the ongoing resistance of an elitist tradition to that development. The argument thus aims to contribute to a Greek "history of ideologies," to chart the ways ideological contestation works through concrete discourses and practices long before the emergence of explicit political theory. To an elitist sensibility, the use of almost pure silver stamped with the state's emblem was a suspicious alternative to the para-political order of gift exchange. It ultimately represented the undesirable encroachment of the public sphere of the egalitarian polis. Kurke re-creates a "language of metals" by analyzing the stories and practices associated with coinage in texts ranging from Herodotus and archaic poetry to Aristotle and Attic inscriptions. She shows that a wide variety of imagery and terms fall into two opposing symbolic domains: the city, representing egalitarian order, and the elite symposium, a kind of anti-city. Exploring the tensions between these domains, Kurke excavates a neglected portion of the Greek cultural "imaginary" in all its specificity and strangeness.
