Book excerpt: Weekly Knowledge Sheets given by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a practice which began from the year 1995 and now, have been compiled into Seven Volume Series of books. This book (Volume I) is a collection of weekly talks, conversations and messages that Sri Sri Ravi Shankar gave between June 21 1995 to June 13 1996. An Intimate Note to the Sincere Seeker is a compilation of excerpts of talks by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the year 1995 - 1996. While these talks often discuss the state of the world at the time they were written, because they discuss human life on the most basic levels - love, hatred, trust, peace, silence, happiness, they are still valuable today. They give us an insight into this knowledge that is so deeply profound, yet so simple, knowledge that does not just remain in the intellect, but is beautifully and effortlessly integrated into daily life. Sri Sri avoids lengthy discussions about the deeper philosophy of life, yet his talks reflect these values to their very core. This book is specially compiled to help readers going through an emotional phase or who need a guidance in life. The reader can go through any one random page (365 chapters for 365 days) for help or can follow as per ones discretion

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Mind of the Guru, Rajiv Mehrotra presents dialogues with several contemporary sages and masters who have illumined the minds of millions around the world. Ranged here are gurus as diverse as B. K. S. Iyengar, who brought yoga from the world of the esoteric to our living rooms; Swami Ramdev, who has democratized yoga via television; and Mata Amritanandamayi, whose mere presence invokes an overwhelming awareness of love. There is Deepak Chopra discussing a quantum healing of mind and body, Sogyal Rinpoche encouraging us to look at death so that we might live a better life and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar reaffirming each person’s right and access to happiness. And there is the unique and contrary voice of U. G. Krishnamurti telling us that all talk of transformation is poppycock. There are no grand narratives or final solutions, only guides who can show the way to the light within. Here you learn from voices as diverse as that of Thich Nhat Hanh, Bishop Desmond Tutu, Baba Amte and Stanislav Grof. Underlying the dialogues is their wisdom on how we can make ourselves unhappy – and guidance on how we can turn our lives around to achieve happiness.

Book excerpt: India is not just a geography or history. It is not only a nation, a country, a mere piece of land. It is something more: it is a metaphor, poetry, something invisible but very tangible. It is vibrating with certain energy fields that no other country can claim. For almost ten thousand years, thousands of people have reached to the ultimate explosion of consciousness. Their vibration is still alive, their impact is in the very air; you just need a certain perceptivity, a certain capacity to receive the invisible that surrounds this strange land. It is strange because it has renounced everything for a single search, the search for the truth. In these pages, we are treated to a spellbinding vision of what Osho calls "the real India," the India that has given birth to enlightened mystics and master musicians, to the inspired poetry of the Upanishads and the breathtaking architecture of the Taj Mahal. We travel through the landscape of India's golden past with Alexander the Great and meet the strange people he met along the way. We are given a front-row seat in the proceedings of the legendary court of the Moghul Emperor Akbar, and an insider's view of the assemblies of Gautama the Buddha and his disciples. In the process, we discover just what it is about India that has made it a magnet for seekers for centuries, and the importance of India's unique contribution to our human search for truth.

Book excerpt: This book, first published in 1962, is an analysis of the history of the philosophy of a country that has never distinguished philosophy from religion. Indian philosophy is not merely metaphysical speculation, but has its foundation in immediate perception. This insistence upon immediate perception rather than abstract reasoning is what distinguishes the Indian philosophy of religion from philosophy as Western nations know it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shree Akkalkot Swami Seva Mandal has been actively working in the social, religious and spiritual fields in Ambernath since last 30 years. The Mandal motivated by the inspiration from Shree Swami Samarth Maharaj and belsing of reverend late Shree Udas Maharaj, has acquired 13 acres of land at Anandwadi, near Karjat-Kashele. Going to take shape on the very land is the grand ‘Swamidham’ which will house 1) A free medical check-up/aid centre 2) Charity meals for Adivasi children 3) Home for Sr. citizens (Vriddhashram) 4) Orphanage 5) Vanvasi (Tribal) Welfare Asharam and school 6) Mobile clinic for 17 to 18 Adivasi villages around in the vicinity 7) Goshala (Cow Care centre) 8) Shree Akkalkot Swami Temple. The first two projects out of these are already operational. The doctors during the course of free medical check-up observed that many Adivasi children are malnourished. On subsequent inquiry it was revealed that they get their only meal of a day in the form of Khichadi (hotch-potch) of Upama in their schools and they have to go empty stomach for the rest of the day. They don’t get even this much food on School Holidays. Taking this into consideration our Mandal has started organising ‘Charity Meals’ daily between 5.00 pm and 7.00 pm at ‘Swamidham’. There are 17 to 18 villages around the vicinity, but for the present we are providing FREE MEAL to the children below 12 years of age of only 5 villages namely Anandwadi, Pimpalwadi, Thombrewadi, Katkarwadi & Mograj. The total number of children benefited are 192. All the generous devotees who wish to donate for this cause of ‘Charity Meal’ are requested to contact us. Donations in the form of Grains will also be accepted. Donations in the form of Money can be accepted lump sum or in the form of monthly donations. Our experience ssays that one square nutrition meal of a child costs Rs. 300/- per month. Donations can be given in cash, cheques or money transfers drawn in favour of ‘Shri Akkalkotswami Seva Mandal’ on our SB A/c No. 0201101345264, Canara Bank, Ambernath Branch. Donations made to ‘Swamidham’ are elligible for income tax exemption Under Section 80G.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A must-read for anyone interested in incorporating meditation into their lifestyle.” ––Sanjay Gupta, MD, chief medical correspondent for CNN Heartfulness is an ideal, a spiritual way of living by and from the heart that is inclusive of all ideologies, beliefs, and religions. In this heart-centered book, a student in conversation with his teacher, Kamlesh D. Patel—affectionately known as Daaji, the fourth and current spiritual guide of the century-old Heartfulness tradition—present a unique method of meditation with the power to facilitate an immediate, tangible spiritual experience, irrespective of a person’s faith. Our modern, fast-paced world can be an overwhelming place. Every day, we’re bombarded with messages telling us that in order to be happy, fulfilled, and worthy, we must be better, do more, and accumulate as much material wealth as possible. Most of us move through our busy lives with our minds full of these ideas, multitasking as we strive to navigate the responsibilities and expectations we must meet just to make it through the day. But what if there is another way? What if, rather than letting the busyness of life overtake our minds, we learn to be heartful instead? Based on Daaji’s own combination of approaches and practices for the modern seeker—which draws from the teachings of Sahaj Marg, meaning “Natural Path”—Heartfulness is a contemporized version of the ancient Indian practice of Raja Yoga, a tradition that enables the practitioner to realize the higher Self within. While many books describe refined states of being, The Heartfulness Way goes further, providing a pragmatic course to experience those states for oneself, which, per the book’s guiding principle, is “greater than knowledge.” Heartfulness meditation consists of four elements—relaxation, meditation, cleaning, and prayer—and illuminates the ancient, defining feature of yogic transmission (or pranahuti), the utilization of divine energy for spiritual growth and transformation. Using the method, detailed practices, tips, and practical philosophy offered in this book, you’ll reach new levels of attainment and learn to live a life more deeply connected to the values of the Heartfulness way—with acceptance, humility, compassion, empathy, and love.
