Book excerpt: SpillWay is the story of one familys journey with God in the world of a traumatic brain injury. Along with offering experiences following their sons brain injury, this true story also offers encouragement to trust God in whatever stormy circumstances the reader finds themselves in. When there is no evidence of what tomorrow holds, the book encourages one to put their trust in the one who holds tomorrow. God is revealed in some of the most difficult times when the answers to your prayers are not the answers you hoped for. SpillWay is an opportunity to see God as a refuge in times of trouble.

Download or read book Hydraulics of Stepped Spillways written by H.-E. Minor and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-08-13 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a discussion of the latest research pertaining to the hydraulic design of spilways and to hydraulic engineering in general. It comprises the papers of a workshop organized to bring together engineers and scientists from around the world for the exchange of ideas on water flow over stepped spillways. This workshop covered a range of subjects from two-phase flow characteristics to refurbishment and implementation of spillways in existing dam structures, and the book also includes a number of illustrative case studies. Overall, this book is one of the first in the rapidly growing field of modern hydraulic engineering techniques. It will interest designers, scientists, and graduate students and researchers in the fields of hydraulic, civil and environmental engineering.
Book Synopsis Computational Hydraulics and Hydrology by : Nicolas G. Adrien
Download or read book Computational Hydraulics and Hydrology written by Nicolas G. Adrien and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-08-13 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational hydraulics and hydrologic modeling are rapidly developing fields with a wide range of applications in areas ranging from wastewater disposal and stormwater management to civil and environmental engineering. These fields are full of promise, but the abundance of literature that now exists contains many new terms that are not always defined. Computational Hydraulics and Hydrology: An Illustrated Dictionary defines more that 4,000 basic terms and phrases related to water conveyance with emphasis on computational hydraulics and hydrologic modeling. Compiled by Nicolas G. Adrien, a noted consulting engineer with three decades of experience, this dictionary includes detailed references to actual modeling studies, nearly 100 illustrations, 150 equations and formulas, and many notations. It also includes a chapter of application examples and another containing more than 6,000 related terms with a list of resources where interested readers can find additional definitions. Other dictionaries and glossaries related to these areas tend to be either dated or much narrower in scope. This dictionary offers broad, practice-based coverage of terms culled directly from the latest texts, references, and actual engineering reports. Computational Hydraulics and Hydrology: An Illustrated Dictionary stands alone in providing ready access to the vocabulary of these subjects.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most dam accidents with hydroelectric plants are due to under-dimensioning of the maximum floods of spillway design, causing extravasation and dam breaks (this occurs in 23% of the accidents). This work highlights the relationship between spillway design and potential dam failure and other important aspects of these structures and presents the methodology of design based on the international experience on the subject. The book covers river basin studies and floods (the geology, geomorphology, hydrology, hydraulics, and layouts of the works). Further, spillway function, capacity and design flood, layouts, or arrangements, of hydroelectric works and types of spillways are treated in the book. Finally, the book discusses examples of dams that broke due to insufficient spillway capacity. The book is intended for engineers and the companies that design dams and power plants around the world, as well as students in dam and hydraulic engineering. In short, people interested in producing electricity that is clean and potentially cheaper than other sources.

Book Synopsis Hydraulics of Stepped Chutes and Spillways by : Hubert Chanson
Download or read book Hydraulics of Stepped Chutes and Spillways written by Hubert Chanson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002-01-01 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stepped channel design has been in use for more than 3,500 years. Recent advances in technology have triggered a regained interest in stepped design, although much expertise has been lost in the last 80 years. The steps significantly increase the rate of energy dissipation taking place along the chute and reduce the size of the required downstream energy dissipation basin. Stepped cascades are also used in water treatment plants to enhance the air-water transfer of atmospheric gases (e.g. oxygen, nitrogen) and of volatile organic components (VOC). Results from more than forty-five laboratory studies and four prototype investigations were re-analysed and compared. The book provides a new understanding of stepped channel hydraulics, and is aimed both at researchers and professionals.
