Book Synopsis Establishing Quantum Physics in Berlin by : Hubert Goenner
Download or read book Establishing Quantum Physics in Berlin written by Hubert Goenner and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-27 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores Albert Einstein’s move to Berlin and the establishment of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Physics under his directorship. Einstein’s call to Berlin was supported by a group of prominent physicists, including Fritz Haber, Walter Nernst, Max Planck, Heinrich Rubens, Emil Warburg, and the young astronomer Erwin Freundlich, in the expectation that Einstein and the institute would take the lead in advancing quantum physics in its early phase. Examining both the abortive attempt and the successful opening of the institute in 1917, it also discusses in detail the institute’s activities up to 1922, when Einstein relinquished the directorship, as well as his reasons for stepping down. The final chapter evaluates the institute’s activities and its role in the advancement of physics. In the end, the institute only partially fulfilled the expectations of its promoters because of the waning interest in quantum physics on the part of its director and board, and also because of Einstein’s refusal to exert scientific leadership. The book is part of a series of publications in the SpringerBriefs series on the early network of quantum physics. The other books in the four-volume collection address the beginnings of quantum physics research at Göttingen, Copenhagen, and Munich. These works emerged from an expansive study on the quantum revolution as a major transformation of physical knowledge undertaken by the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science and the Fritz Haber Institute (2006–2012). Book Synopsis Transcendental Physics by : Edward R. Close
Download or read book Transcendental Physics written by Edward R. Close and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2000-05 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this ground-breaking work, Dr. Close goes beyond the question “How can we explain consciousness in terms of matter?” and asks instead, “Can matter be explained in terms of consciousness?” The results are astounding. Using unimpeachable scientific evidence and logic, the author provides proof of the absolute necessity of the existence of consciousness prior to the emergence of the first particle of the physical universe. Eliminating the conflicts between relativity and quantum mechanics, Transcendental Physics places them in perspective as progressive paradigm shifts leading out of the dead end of dialectic materialism and provides the necessary science for a sweeping shift to a consciousness-based reality paradigm. Transcendental Physics provides scientific proof of the existence of a non-quantum reality, a reality that both exceeds and incorporates physical materiality as a subset of Consciousness. Going beyond mere theory, Dr. Close completes this Herculean vision by providing, in an appendix, new mathematics derived from G. Spencer Brown’s Laws of Form that allows consciousness to be incorporated into the equations of physics. In this book, a truly Transcendental Science—capable of unifying the physical, biological, and psychological sciences with the search for spiritual truth in one consistent paradigm—is born.
Book Synopsis Albert Einstein, The Human Side by : Albert Einstein
Download or read book Albert Einstein, The Human Side written by Albert Einstein and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2013-10-27 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modesty, humor, compassion, and wisdom are the traits most evident in this illuminating selection of personal papers from the Albert Einstein Archives. The illustrious physicist wrote as thoughtfully to an Ohio fifth-grader, distressed by her discovery that scientists classify humans as animals, as to a Colorado banker who asked whether Einstein believed in a personal God. Witty rhymes, an exchange with Queen Elizabeth of Belgium about fine music, and expressions of his devotion to Zionism are but some of the highlights found in this warm and enriching book.

Book Synopsis From Berlin to Berkeley by : Reinhard Bendix
Download or read book From Berlin to Berkeley written by Reinhard Bendix and published by Transaction Publishers. This book was released on 1990-01-01 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Berlin to Berkeley is an intellectual portrait of one of America's leading social scientists, Reinhard Bendix, and his father, Ludwig Bendix. It is a story of cultural identity and assimilation, of survivors from a course of events that destroyed millions of lives. Reinhard Bendix offers a profound and moving account of his father's life as a lawyer and critic of the German judicial system, his break with Judaism and identification with German culture, and his emigration to Palestine during Hitler's regime. Bendix then examines the relationship with his father and details his youth in Germany, his emigration to America, and his early career as a scholar.

Book Synopsis Kinetic Theory Of Gases, The: An Anthology Of Classic Papers With Historical Commentary by : Stephen G Brush
Download or read book Kinetic Theory Of Gases, The: An Anthology Of Classic Papers With Historical Commentary written by Stephen G Brush and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003-07-28 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces physics students and teachers to the historical development of the kinetic theory of gases, by providing a collection of the most important contributions by Clausius, Maxwell and Boltzmann, with introductory surveys explaining their significance. In addition, extracts from the works of Boyle, Newton, Mayer, Joule, Helmholtz, Kelvin and others show the historical context of ideas about gases, energy and irreversibility. In addition to five thematic essays connecting the classical kinetic theory with 20th century topics such as indeterminism and interatomic forces, there is an extensive international bibliography of historical commentaries on kinetic theory, thermodynamics, etc. published in the past four decades. The book will be useful to historians of science who need primary and secondary sources to be conveniently available for their own research and interpretation, along with the bibliography which makes it easier to learn what other historians have already done on this subject.
