This book was released on 1991 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Space-Based Radar Simulator Laboratory is a secure computing facility that provides a software environment to support simulation of both space-based radar (SBR) operations and detailed SBR performance. The SBR Integrated Surveillance and Interception Response System Model Library is a set of models that can be run on the generic simulation software in the discrete-event simulation state. These models allow for simulation of SBR operations within the context of the North American air defence infrastructure. This volume describes the design of the Model Library in detail, including models for SBR radar, satellite platform, antenna, and clutter environment. The models are designed within an object oriented framework. The design description in this volume defines each model in terms of the standard object oriented design attributes of parameters and methods. Each computing software component used to implement the models is also described.

Book excerpt: This manual describes the installation, administration, and maintenance procedures for the Space-Based Radar Simulation Laboratory (SimLab). The SimLab is a software simulation package that can be installed on SPARC-based workstations as a standalone system or as part of a network. The software allows simulation of space-based radar performance and operations as either an isolated surveillance and tracking system or within the context of a comprehensive North American air defense system. SimLab presently consists of three main software components: a generic simulator and two sets of model libraries. Chapters of the manual describe the hardware environment required to run SimLab, the installation of the operating system and third-party software required by SimLab, the SimLab software installation and organization, shutdown procedures, management of user accounts and libraries, user utilities and tools, configuration management, data backup and recovery, and troubleshooting.

The Library is a set of models that can be run on the SBR Simulation Laboratory in the functional simulation state, allowing for the detailed simulation of SBR target detection performance. The document details the seven model classes: SatControl, which controls the beam pointing direction for the SBR satellite; SatRadar, which models target detection evaluation; StaticAntenna, which maintains information on antenna patterns and attributes; StaticPlatform, which maintains information on satellite position and velocity; SimpleASM, which receives messages from other model classes; StaticTarget, which maintains information on a target; and ClutterEnviron, which calculates ground clutter. The user interfaces to each class are described in terms of the parameters and input and output messages. A high-level description of the algorithms implemented by each model is also provided.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main objective of this effort was to develop a computer based analytical capability for simulating the RF performance of large space-based radar (SBR) systems. The model is capable of simulating corporate and space fed aperture. The model also can simulate multibeam feeds, cluster/point feeds, corporate feed and various aperture distributions. The simulation is capable of accepting Draper Labs structural data and antenna current data from Atlantic Research Corporation's (ARC) First Approximation Methods (FAM) and Higher Approximation Methods (HAM) models. In addition there is a routine to input various apertures surface distortions which causes the elements in the arrays to be displaced from the ideal location on a planar lattice. There were analyses looking at calibration/compensation techniques for large aperture space radars. Passive, space fed lens SBR designs were investigated. The survivability of an SBR system was analyzed. The design of ground based SBR validation experiments for large aperture SBR concepts were investigated. SBR designs were investigated for ground target detection.
