Im ersten Kapitel der Arbeit soll die Begrifflichkeit „soziales Lernen“ umfassend definiert werden. Das zweite Kapitel widmet sich nachfolgend der Frage, warum soziales Lernen im Islamischen Religionsunterricht stattfinden sollte. Es befasst sich mit dem Bildungs- und Erziehungsauftrag von Schulen, um die Relevanz sozialen Lernens darzulegen. In diesem Sinne wird anschließend über soziale Probleme von Schüler*innen, insbesondere muslimischen Kindern und Jugendlichen berichtet. Da der Islamische Religionsunterricht in Niedersachsen sich als adaptives Modell erweist, der sich an christlichen religionsdidaktischen Konzepten orientiert, wird soziales Lernen auch aus christlicher religionspädagogischer/-didaktischer Perspektive dargestellt. Im dritten Kapitel* wird entsprechende Literatur rezipiert, um darzustellen, wie die Christliche Religionsdidaktik religiöses und soziales Lernen konzipiert. Anschließend werden die Lehrpläne für den Katholischen Religionsunterricht und für den Evangelischen Religionsunterricht in der Sekundarstufe I an Schulen in Niedersachsen sowie Arbeitsmaterialien für ethisch-soziales und diakonisch-soziales Lernen analysiert. Die Lehrpläne und -materialien werden hinsichtlich ihrer Potenziale für soziales Lernen untersucht. Ebenso sollen die Lehrpläne für den Islamischen Religionsunterricht für die Jahrgänge 5-10 in Niedersachsen und Nordrhein-Westfalen analysiert werden. Als Lehrmaterialien werden Auszüge aus islamischen Religionsbüchern untersucht, um Näheres über das Potenzial des Islamischen Religionsunterrichts für soziales Lernen aussagen zu können. Potenziale für soziales Lernen werden im Kontext der Werterziehung aufgesucht. Denn soziales Lernen im Religionsunterricht versteht sich als religiöses Lernen, welche sozial ausgerichtet ist. Demzufolge befasst sich die Arbeit außerdem mit der islamischen Moralerziehung und setzt sich mit der Werteerziehung in sozial-emotionalen Kontexten im Religionsunterricht allgemein auseinander. Die Masterarbeit schließt mit einem Fazit ab. Hier werden die Forschungsergebnisse zusammengefasst und auf die zentrale Frage der wissenschaftlichen Arbeit eine abschließende Antwort gegeben.

Anschließend wird auf das Recht auf den Religionsunterricht nach Art. 7 III GG eingegangen, ehe der aktuelle Stand des islamischen Religionsunterrichts in Deutschland umschrieben und die Problematiken und bisherigen Übergangslösungen aufgezeigt werden. In diesem Zuge sollen auch die gegenwärtigen islamischen Unterrichtsversuche in den Bundesländern dargestellt werden. Daraufhin wird der umstrittene Begriff der Integration geklärt. Letztlich werden die multifaktoriellen Chancen des islamischen Religionsunterrichts angesprochen, die sich sowohl auf die Muslime, als auch auf die Schule, Kirche und Gesellschaft erstrecken. Die Tatsache, dass selbst Muslime, die in Deutschland geboren wurden, nicht richtig aufgenommen werden, wirft die Frage auf, was bei der Integration falsch gemacht wurde. Rainer Klingholz meint, den ausschlaggebenden Punkt für die fehlgeschlagene Integration zu kennen, nämlich die Bildung. Zurzeit gibt es in Deutschland rund 750.000 muslimische Jugendliche, die schulpflichtig sind. Um die Integration dieser Gruppe in die Wege zu leiten und eine Verbesserung der Situation anzustreben, wird ein islamischer Religionsunterricht nach Art. 7 III des Grundgesetzes gefordert.

Although several international studies have shown that some categories of students are at risk to be disadvantaged at school because of social inequality, this problem is currently not considered in theories of interreligious learning. Therefore, the present study investigates whether or not categories of students are disadvantaged in interreligious learning. In addition to theological and pedagogical insights about the problem of social inequality, this book presents an empirically validated action-theoretical model which helps to understand why some students have better or worse opportunities in interreligious learning. The action-theoretical model further proposes strategies to address unequal learning conditions in interreligious learning.

Book excerpt: Citizenship is high on the agenda of education systems in many of the world's democracies. As yet, however, discussions of citizenship education have neglected issues of religious diversity and how the study of religions can contribute to our understanding of citizenship. International Perspectives on Citizenship, Education and Religious Diversity brings together an international range of contributions from religious studies scholars and educators specialising in the study of religions. Together, these illustrate and explore the key questions for educational theory and pedagogy raised by drawing issues of religious diversity into citizenship education. The chapters address and extend debates over the nature of citizenship in late modernity, highlighting local and global dimensions of citizenship in relation to issues of national, religious, ethnic and cultural identity.
