Book Synopsis Organosilicon Derivatives of Phosphorus and Sulfur by : Sergeĭ Nikolaevich Borisov
Download or read book Organosilicon Derivatives of Phosphorus and Sulfur written by Sergeĭ Nikolaevich Borisov and published by Springer. This book was released on 1971-08 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the characteristics of the development of chemical science in the middle of the present century is the vigorous pro gress of the "third chemistry," which is often named now the chemistry of heteroorganic compounds. Then in the last decade, among specialists in this field there has been a marked increase in interest in heteroatomic organic derivatives of silicon, i. e. , heteroorganic silicon compounds. However, until recently this new class of chemical substances, which is extremely interesting theoretically and practically, has been without a single specialized monograph which systematizes and generalizes all progress in the heteroorganic chemistry of silicon. The first attempt in this direction was our book "Heteroorganic Compounds of Silicon" [42 (F), 17 (S) *], which appeared at the end of 1966 and was published as an English translation in the USA in 1969. However, as follows from its subtitle "Derivatives of Inorganic Elements," this mono graph could not cover the whole broad field of the chemistry of heteroorganic compounds of silicon. The main reason for this was above all the abundance and variety of original investigations of organosilicon derivatives of inorganic elements, which was un expected even to the authors themselves. As a result of this the planned length of the book compelled us to omit the sections on organosilicon compounds of phosphorus and sulfur, which had al ready been prepared for publication.

This book was released on 2014-02-17 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book treats corrosion as it occurs and affects processes in real-world situations, and thus points the way to practical solutions. Topics described include the conditions in which petroleum products are corrosive to metals; corrosion mechanisms of petroleum products; which parts of storage tanks containing crude oils and petroleum products undergo corrosion; dependence of corrosion in tanks on type of petroleum products; aggressiveness of petroleum products to polymeric material; how microorganisms take part in corrosion of tanks and pipes containing petroleum products; which corrosion monitoring methods are used in systems for storage and transportation of petroleum products; what corrosion control measures should be chosen; how to choose coatings for inner and outer surfaces of tanks containing petroleum products; and how different additives (oxygenates, aromatic solvents) to petroleum products and biofuels influence metallic and polymeric materials. The book is of interest to corrosion engineers, materials engineers, oil and gas engineers, petroleum engineers, chemists, chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, failure analysts, scientists, and students, designers of tanks, pipelines and other systems for storage and transportation fuels, technicians. This book was released on 2005-11-03 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can usually download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Niet afgebeeld. 1896 edition.
Book Synopsis History of Analytical Chemistry by : Ferenc Szabadváry
Download or read book History of Analytical Chemistry written by Ferenc Szabadváry and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-01-22 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: History of Analytical Chemistry is a systematic account of the historical development of analytical chemistry spanning about 4,000 years. Many scientists who have helped to develop the methods of analytical chemistry are mentioned. Various methods of analysis are discussed, including electrogravimetry, optical methods, electrometric analysis, radiochemical analysis, and chromatography. This volume is comprised of 14 chapters and begins with an overview of analytical chemistry in ancient Greece, the origin of chemistry, and the earliest knowledge of analysis. The next chapter focuses on analytical chemistry during the Middle Ages, with emphasis on alchemy. Analytical knowledge during the period of iatrochemistry and the development of analytical chemistry during the phlogiston period are then examined. Subsequent chapters deal with the development of the fundamental laws of chemistry, including the principle of the indestructibility of matter; analytical chemistry during the period of Berzelius; and developments in qualitative and gravimetric analysis. Elementary organic analysis is also considered, along with the development of the theory of analytical chemistry. This book will be helpful to chemists as well as students and researchers in the field of analytical chemistry.

Download or read book Oxygen and Ozone written by Rubin Battino and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2015-08-11 with total page 539 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Oxygen and Ozone deals with the solubility of oxygen and ozone in pure liquids, liquid mixtures, aqueous and organic solutions, biological fluids, and some miscellaneous solvents and mixtures. The coverage is on gas/liquid systems at high and low pressures. Individual data sheets for each gas/liquid system are included. This volume consists of three sections and begins with an introduction to the solubility of gases in liquids, with emphasis on the solubility of oxygen in water at atmospheric pressure. Oxygen solubilities up to and above 200 kPa (2 bar) in media such as water, hydrocarbons, organic compounds, and biological and miscellaneous fluids are presented. The overall mechanism of ozone decomposition in aqueous systems is then discussed, along with the steps involved in the gas-liquid equilibrium. An experimental approach for determining the solubility of ozone in aqueous systems in which significant decomposition occurs is also described. This book will be a valuable source of information for chemists.
