It includes detailed information on the distribution, habitat preferences and call of each frog species, as well as fully illustrated keys to genera to assist with identification. Book excerpt: The 'Intoxicate' is a survey of all the major drug types that are used to alter consciousness. It goes through each category of drug and talks about its psychological, behavioural and social effects. It is presented in the form of narrative highlighted by personal experience, and the anecdotes of others. ( Although the narrator is aware of academic knowledge in this area.) The narrator's intention is to locate these drugs within the context of life lived from the 1970's to the 1990's, rather than as a separate area of study. As well as considering the effects, personal and social, of recognised categories of drugs, such as hallucinogens, amphetamines and cannabis, it also includes sections on everyday drugs such as nicotine, caffeine and tobacco. Although this work is presented as a narrative, it is based on enough knowledge to make it authentic ( I believe). I would hope it adds something to the debate on drugs in modern life, and I would like to think it is also enjoyable in itself as a narrative.

One-of-a-kind text gives you a clinical understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Rich, unique content offers an unparalleled depth of information that is meticulously cross-referenced. Includes all the signs and symptoms that a modern patient may present in the clinic, no matter how subtle. Outlines the decision-making options in key situations to help you through the most challenging topics. Case histories with diagnoses present common conditions that professionals will often find in practice. Logically organized to help you quickly find the information you need in clinical situations. Book excerpt: TCM Pediatrics is concerned with children’s growth and development along with physiological and pathological conditions and their treatment with traditional Chinese medicinals, acupuncture, tui na and other therapeutic methods. As an important TCM clinical discipline with distinct features, the study of Chinese Medical Pediatrics links closely with other basic and clinical courses and also plays a vital role in enhancing students’ clinical thinking and practice in general. This book is mainly intended as a tool to be employed in the teaching of TCM. Following each case, there are exercises with questions broadly based on the disease category in order to compensate for the lack of breadth offered by a single case. In this way, the student is given the opportunity to review and consolidate their basic knowledge of the disease. The cases here are compiled mainly by pediatricians from Hunan University of Chinese Medicine who have long been engaged in clinical practice and teaching, and all cases involve commonly seen conditions in the TCM pediatric department.
