Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently, there have been growing concerns about the availability and cost of energy and about environ. impacts of fossil energy use, especially global climate change. Those combined concerns have rekindled interest in energy efficiency, energy conservation, and the development and commercialization of renewable energy technologies. This report describes federal programs that provide grants, loans, loan guarantees, and other direct or indirect regulatory incentives for energy efficiency, energy conservation, and renewable energy. For each program, the report provides the administering agency, authorizing statute(s), annual funding, and the program expiration date. Charts and tables. This is a print on demand report.
Book Synopsis A Solar Buyer's Guide for the Home and Office by : Stephen Hren
Download or read book A Solar Buyer's Guide for the Home and Office written by Stephen Hren and published by Chelsea Green Publishing. This book was released on 2010-10-07 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solar power, once a fringe effort limited to DIY enthusiasts, is now fast becoming mainstream. Many home and business owners are curious about solar electric and solar thermal systems, and wonder how to go about getting a clean energy generation system of their own. The vast majority will hire a professional installer to do the job. But what should they be asking of these installers? What system makes the most sense for their home or office: solar electric, solar hot water, solar heating, or some combination of these? A Solar Buyer's Guide for the Home and Office explains the options so that property owners can make the right choices both for their energy needs and their financial security. Understanding how solar power systems work will enable readers to be informed customers when dealing with professional installers-the book also provides advice on how to select a qualified installer and understand the expanding variety of tax credits and other incentives that are popping up around the country. The market for solar systems has been growing at an exponential rate and strong tax credits ensure continued growth even in a sluggish economy. Many of those who would like to catch this undeniable wave of the future are held back by widespread confusion. A Solar Buyer's Guide for the Home and Office clears the air, allowing property owners to move forward with confidence to make their homes and offices more comfortable, environmentally sound, and secure against wild swings in energy prices.

Book Synopsis Solar Incentives by : Peggy K. Alvin
Download or read book Solar Incentives written by Peggy K. Alvin and published by . This book was released on 2014-05-14 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the number of utilities across the country offering incentives to encourage customers to adopt solar power has grown substantially. Often this is because utilities are required to meet solar energy mandates or generation targets. Utilities have voluntarily encouraged the adoption of solar energy or established incentive programs to meet internal clean energy goals. While solar photovoltaic (PV) system costs are rapidly falling, costs for distributed systems are still above retail rates in most jurisdictions, and require incentives to support customer adoption. This book explores best practices for designing and implementing incentives for small and mid-sized residential and commercial distributed solar energy projects.

Book Synopsis Concentrating Solar Power in Developing Countries by : Natalia Kulichenko
Download or read book Concentrating Solar Power in Developing Countries written by Natalia Kulichenko and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2012-07-13 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At present, different concentrating solar thermal technologies (CST) have reached varying degrees of commercial availability. This emerging nature of CST means that there are market and technical impediments to accelerating its acceptance, including cost competitiveness, an understanding of technology capability and limitations, intermittency, and benefits of electricity storage. Many developed and some developing countries are currently working to address these barriers in order to scale up CST-based power generation. Given the considerable growth of CST development in several World Bank Group partner countries, there is a need to assess the recent experience of developed countries in designing and implementing regulatory frameworks and draw lesson that could facilitate the deployment of CST technologies in developing countries. Merely replicating developed countries' schemes in the context of a developing country may not generate the desired outcomes. Against this background, this report (a) analyzes and draws lessons from the efforts of some developed countries and adapts them to the characteristics of developing economies; (b) assesses the cost reduction potential and economic and financial affordability of various CST technologies in emerging markets; (c) evaluates the potential for cost reduction and associated economic benefits derived from local manufacturing; and (d) suggests ways to tailor bidding models and practices, bid selection criteria, and structures for power purchase agreements (PPAs) for CST projects in developing market conditions.
