Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to identify secondary general and special education teachers' perceptions of the delivery of social skills training for students' receiving emotional support. Forty-four secondary teachers were surveyed for their perceptions related to teacher involvement, access to ongoing training and support, effective delivery model of implementation, and the role of teachers in monitoring. Results of this study suggest that social skills training has a positive impact on generalizing social skills into students' daily lives. General and special education teachers have similar perspectives related to the delivery of social skills. The recommendations for improving the delivery of social skills training include focusing on the structure and delivery through more effective, ongoing professional development, and increased teacher collaboration.
