Book Synopsis 500 Jahre der Reformation in der Slowakei by : Maros Nicak
Download or read book 500 Jahre der Reformation in der Slowakei written by Maros Nicak and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2019 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Lexical segmentation in Slovak and German by : Adriana Hanulíková
Download or read book Lexical segmentation in Slovak and German written by Adriana Hanulíková and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2012-10-31 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All humans are equipped with perceptual and articulatory mechanisms which (in healthy humans) allow them to learn to perceive and produce speech. One basic question in psycholinguistics is whether humans share similar underlying processing mechanisms for all languages, or whether these are fundamentally different due to the diversity of languages and speakers. This book provides a cross-linguistic examination of speech comprehension by investigating word recognition in users of different languages. The focus is on how listeners segment the quasi-continuous stream of sounds that they hear into a sequence of discrete words, and how a universal segmentation principle, the Possible Word Constraint, applies in the recognition of Slovak and German.

Book Synopsis Forum für osteuropäische Ideen- und Zeitgeschichte by : Leonid Luks
Download or read book Forum für osteuropäische Ideen- und Zeitgeschichte written by Leonid Luks and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2016-05-03 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1997, FORUM has been an integral part of the landscape of European studies. In addition to contemporary history, it offers insights into the history of ideas and reviews books on Central and Eastern European history. It offers more than just history—for instance, interdisciplinary discussions by political scientists, literary, legal, and economic scholars, and philosophers. FORUM sees itself as a bridge between East and West. Through the translation and publication of texts and contributions from Russian, Polish, and Czech researchers, it offers the Western reader access to the scholarly discourse of Eastern Europe. The 'short' 20th century is one of the best-documented eras in history. Nevertheless, it holds more mysteries than many periods of antiquity or the Middle Ages of which we have only sparse relics. One of the biggest mysteries is the question of the causes of the collapse of civilization in the first half of the century. In Germany as well as in Russia, regimes came to power invoking the implementation of utopias that had been dreamt up during the 'long' 19th century yet which had been considered unrealizable. Now, it turned out, even the most radical utopian blueprint could be put into place. This development, intertwined with an extraordinarily deep crisis of European democracy, did not happen overnight. It had been looming for a long time. There had even been several prescient voices heralding the upcoming crisis—trailing away without being noticed. Volume 19, Issue 1 of FORUM recognizes some of these unheard prophets and scrutinizes their writings.
Book Synopsis Women's Movements by : Margareth Lanzinger
Download or read book Women's Movements written by Margareth Lanzinger and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2006 with total page 604 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The volume begins by taking stock of women's movements and their location following the fall of communism. The authors address a broad range of subjects including gender-specific implications of social politics, feminist positioning and increasingly virulent forms of nationalism. They discuss the "body" and "sexuality" against the background of their own political and academic traditions. Retrospective historical views focus on the images of women and concepts of roles from the era of socialism and "state feminism" as well as on women's movements, politically active women and networks in individual countries in Central, East and South Europe from the beginning of the 18th century. The volume concludes with essays on legal and social contexts.

Download or read book Lexicology written by D. Alan Cruse and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2005 with total page 1012 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
