During their delivery, the experimental facts were before the audience, forming visible links in the logic of each discourse. Here, by the use of plain language, I have endeavoured to reproduce distinct images of these facts, and to show them in their proper relations. With a view to this end I have sought to raise the Wave-theory of Light to adequate clearness in the reader's mind, and to show its power as an organizer of optical phenomena.
