Book excerpt: Every Hindu and anyone who has some interest in Hindu scriptures should read this book. It reveals hidden facts of quantum physics from original texts such as the Linga Purana, Shiva Purana, etc. These scriptures have been misrepresented for more than 200 years by the enemies of Hindus. All parents should read this knowledge-treasure and share it with their children. Guruji Sundara Raj Anantha has revealed esoteric secrets that proof Hindu shastra-s are science-based. The scientific facts found in our shastra-s are the earliest and oldest written records in the world. The depth of knowledge contained in these shastra-s are way beyond its time. It is an astounding fact that without the availability of modern instruments, the Siddha-s, Yogi-s, and Guru-s were so advanced scientifically in ancient times. How is this possible? This book will make everyone proud of being a Hindu.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Shiva lingam is an aniconic representation of Lord Shiva. Hindus worship Lord Shiva mostly in the form of a Shiva lingam, but its meaning has been one of the most debated topics. There are mainly two groups; one believes it is a sexual organ and others believe it is not. They both give many different arguments in the support of their perspective. With the advent of science and technology, one more group has emerged which strongly believes that there is some sort of science behind the concept of Shiva Lingam. But what are the reasons behind this confusion? 1. There are some stories in the Hindu scriptures that depict it as a sexual organ while some stories say it is a column of fire. 2. Many different meanings of the words linga and yoni. 3. Ancient pillar/phallus worship. 4. Different practices of different Hindu sects. 5. The shape of a Shiva lingam. In February 2010, the encyclopedia Britannica removed a sentence about Shiva lingam from its article.“In temples and private shrines, Shiva is ... worshipped in the form of the lingam, or phallus, often embedded in the yoni, the symbol of the female sexual organ.”It is believed that it did so because of the pressure of Netizens, but I doubt that a website like Britannica would do so unless there is some valid reason behind it. When we talk about religion, the scriptures are of utmost importance. Therefore, in this book, I have sought refuge mainly in scriptures to determine what exactly a Shiva Lingam is, but I have also considered other things like archaeological evidence, logic, history, science, etc. I am sure that this book would not only answer what a Shiva lingam really is but also you would learn many new things about Hinduism.

Book excerpt: In India: A Sacred Geography, renowned Harvard scholar Diana Eck offers an extraordinary spiritual journey through the pilgrimage places of the world's most religiously vibrant culture and reveals that it is, in fact, through these sacred pilgrimages that India’s very sense of nation has emerged. No matter where one goes in India, one will find a landscape in which mountains, rivers, forests, and villages are elaborately linked to the stories of the gods and heroes of Indian culture. Every place in this vast landscape has its story, and conversely, every story of Hindu myth and legend has its place. Likewise, these places are inextricably tied to one another—not simply in the past, but in the present—through the local, regional, and transregional practices of pilgrimage. India: A Sacred Geography tells the story of the pilgrim’s India. In these pages, Diana Eck takes the reader on an extraordinary spiritual journey through the living landscape of this fascinating country –its mountains, rivers, and seacoasts, its ancient and powerful temples and shrines. Seeking to fully understand the sacred places of pilgrimage from the ground up, with their stories, connections and layers of meaning, she acutely examines Hindu religious ideas and narratives and shows how they have been deeply inscribed in the land itself. Ultimately, Eck shows us that from these networks of pilgrimage places, India’s very sense of region and nation has emerged. This is the astonishing and fascinating picture of a land linked for centuries not by the power of kings and governments, but by the footsteps of pilgrims. India: A Sacred Geography offers a unique perspective on India, both as a complex religious culture and as a nation. Based on her extensive knowledge and her many decades of wide-ranging travel and research, Eck's piercing insights and a sweeping grasp of history ensure that this work will be in demand for many years to come.

The book uses the authentic voices of practicing Hindus to highlight differences in the ways Hinduism is understood and lived in different circumstances. The diversity of Hindu expression is one of the complex elements of Hinduism, and it is also one of its strengths. This book makes this diversity the centre of its exploration. Each chapter enables the reader to consider the concepts and how they can be taught in the classroom. The author also provides suggestions for activities that could be utilised within the classroom to help others to understand the richness and vibrancy of Hinduism.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book in does not put any religion in the negative, but only convincingly puts forward an argument that in Hinduism also, God is formless. Many of you are not aware that idol worshipping in Hinduism was no there in the beginning when the religion began and it was added later by several sages for reasons I have given below. Personally, I believe the whole system of current worship in Hinduism would have been different if people had the capability to understand and the subject of Advaita Vedanta. The knowledge of which is above all other Vedas. In Hinduism knowledge of Vedas is not the highest knowledge, but the highest knowledge is the knowledge of self, as knowledge about self is the only way we can know about the Supreme. Understanding that Hinduism got drifted away from the original worship of formless god to idol worship is very easy. Just look at Saint Sai Baba of Shirdi who lived a simple life just a century ago and is today worshipped by millions of Hindus with lot of temples dedicated to him. This is an example of how Hinduism got drifted away in thousands of years it existed from the original concept of formless one supreme God. We will also have a detailed explanation of energy, which in Hinduism was the other half of God, also created by him and known as goddesses or Shakti. The subject of energy has been explained in detail in the book, because the author states if anything cannot be classified as energy then it is only the one and only one supreme God. The two combined and give us all the illusion which is the world we see and believe. There is a chapter which compares science as just another religion and searching for something within the illusion. In Vishnu Purana, we find Lord Vishnu is praised immensely and Lord Shiva is treated as secondary. But if you look at Shiva Purana, Lord Shiva is immensely praised and the same goes with Devi Bhagavata. This was done to create in the aspirant an intense unquestionable faith in his favorite deity. Because in Hinduism we may worship the same God in any form that we believe. If I have mentioned God as him then that should not be taken as a masculine character but used only because in Hinduism energy is considered in feminine form. We all know that energy does not physically look like a female even though it is considered as feminine by religious principles.

Book excerpt: The unique story of Jesus, Saint Thomas his Apostle, and how the Dharma of India became part of Saint Thomas Christianity "Original Christianity" is the teaching of both Jesus of Nazareth and his Apostle Saint Thomas in India. Although it was new to the Mediterranean world, it was really the classical, traditional teachings of the ancient rishis of India that even today comprise Sanatana Dharma, the Eternal Dharma, that goes far beyond religion into realization. In The Christ of India Abbot George Burke presents what those ancient teachings are, as well as the growing evidence that Jesus spent much of his "Lost Years" in India and Tibet. This is also the story of how the original teachings of Jesus and Saint Thomas thrived in India for centuries before the coming of the European colonialists. The Christ of India: The Story of Original Christianity includes the following: • The Christ of India, about the Essene roots of Jesus and the early Christians; the spiritual training of Jesus; The "lost years" of Jesus, with much information never before gathered together in one place; Jesus' return to the West, and how his teachings were misunderstood; Jesus return to India after his resurrection; and much more. • The Apostle of India, about how Jesus' apostle Saint Thomas went to India, and how the Christianity which grew up in India had a totally unique character compared to elsewhere in the world; the history of Saint Thomas Christianity in India and how it was persecuted by the colonialists. • The Beliefs of Original Christianity • Special Appendix: Indian Masters Who Considered Jesus One of Them. Stories of masters who had visions of Jesus, and those who researched Jesus' time in India, including Sri Ramakrishna, Paramhansa Yogananda, Swami Sivananda and others You will learn about the manuscripts which proved Jesus lived in the "East," and the efforts to suppress the news of their discovery. You will learn about the Indian Saint Thomas Christian bishop of the 18th century who taught karma and reincarnation, who later became a wonderworking saint revered by Christians, Hindus, and Muslims alike. Those who find themselves attracted to both Jesus and the Dharma of India will find this book fascinating and illuminating.

For more than a billion people living in India and abroad, Hinduism is the religion and a way of life. In this multi-award winning book, Swami Achuthananda cracks open the opium poppy pods, analyzes the causes for euphoria, and comes away with a deeper understanding of the people and their religion. *** Winner 2014 Next Generation Indie Book Awards (Religious Non-fiction) *** This is a comprehensive book on Hinduism. It tells you why Hindus do the things they do - and don't. Written in a casual style, the book guides you through the fundamentals of the religion. It then goes further and debunks a number of long-standing myths, some of them coming from the academia (of all places). While most books shy away from contentious issues, this book plunges headlong by taking on controversies, like the Aryan Invasion Theory, idol worship, RISA scholarship and many more. In fact one-third of the book is just on controversies that you rarely find in any other literature. Other Awards: *** Finalist - 2014 Pacific Book Awards (Religion) *** *** Bronze - 2014 IPPY Award - (Religion) ***
