Boulanger etwa sah die gesamte Kultur der Antike als Bewältigungsversuch einer durch den Sintflut-Schrecken geprägten Menschheit an und deutete die heidnischen Mysterien als Antidotum gegen diesen Schrecken, als >affektive Inversion
