Book Synopsis Essential Calculus by : James Stewart
Download or read book Essential Calculus written by James Stewart and published by Cengage Learning. This book was released on 2012-02-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is for instructors who think that most calculus textbooks are too long. In writing the book, James Stewart asked himself: What is essential for a three-semester calculus course for scientists and engineers? ESSENTIAL CALCULUS, Second Edition, offers a concise approach to teaching calculus that focuses on major concepts, and supports those concepts with precise definitions, patient explanations, and carefully graded problems. The book is only 900 pages--two-thirds the size of Stewart's other calculus texts, and yet it contains almost all of the same topics. The author achieved this relative brevity primarily by condensing the exposition and by putting some of the features on the book's website, www.StewartCalculus.com. Despite the more compact size, the book has a modern flavor, covering technology and incorporating material to promote conceptual understanding, though not as prominently as in Stewart's other books. ESSENTIAL CALCULUS features the same attention to detail, eye for innovation, and meticulous accuracy that have made Stewart's textbooks the best-selling calculus texts in the world. Book Synopsis Single Variable Differential and Integral Calculus by : Elimhan Mahmudov
Download or read book Single Variable Differential and Integral Calculus written by Elimhan Mahmudov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-19 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book “Single variable Differential and Integral Calculus” is an interesting text book for students of mathematics and physics programs, and a reference book for graduate students in any engineering field. This book is unique in the field of mathematical analysis in content and in style. It aims to define, compare and discuss topics in single variable differential and integral calculus, as well as giving application examples in important business fields. Some elementary concepts such as the power of a set, cardinality, measure theory, measurable functions are introduced. It also covers real and complex numbers, vector spaces, topological properties of sets, series and sequences of functions (including complex-valued functions and functions of a complex variable), polynomials and interpolation and extrema of functions. Although analysis is based on the single variable models and applications, theorems and examples are all set to be converted to multi variable extensions. For example, Newton, Riemann, Stieltjes and Lebesque integrals are studied together and compared.
Book Synopsis Advanced Calculus of Several Variables by : C. H. Edwards
Download or read book Advanced Calculus of Several Variables written by C. H. Edwards and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced Calculus of Several Variables provides a conceptual treatment of multivariable calculus. This book emphasizes the interplay of geometry, analysis through linear algebra, and approximation of nonlinear mappings by linear ones. The classical applications and computational methods that are responsible for much of the interest and importance of calculus are also considered. This text is organized into six chapters. Chapter I deals with linear algebra and geometry of Euclidean n-space Rn. The multivariable differential calculus is treated in Chapters II and III, while multivariable integral calculus is covered in Chapters IV and V. The last chapter is devoted to venerable problems of the calculus of variations. This publication is intended for students who have completed a standard introductory calculus sequence.

Book Synopsis Advanced Calculus of a Single Variable by : Tunc Geveci
Download or read book Advanced Calculus of a Single Variable written by Tunc Geveci and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-03-30 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This advanced undergraduate textbook is based on a one-semester course on single variable calculus that the author has been teaching at San Diego State University for many years. The aim of this classroom-tested book is to deliver a rigorous discussion of the concepts and theorems that are dealt with informally in the first two semesters of a beginning calculus course. As such, students are expected to gain a deeper understanding of the fundamental concepts of calculus, such as limits (with an emphasis on ε-δ definitions), continuity (including an appreciation of the difference between mere pointwise and uniform continuity), the derivative (with rigorous proofs of various versions of L’Hôpital’s rule) and the Riemann integral (discussing improper integrals in-depth, including the comparison and Dirichlet tests). Success in this course is expected to prepare students for more advanced courses in real and complex analysis and this book will help to accomplish this. The first semester of advanced calculus can be followed by a rigorous course in multivariable calculus and an introductory real analysis course that treats the Lebesgue integral and metric spaces, with special emphasis on Banach and Hilbert spaces.
